I would use a Web site called Crucial.com Run the automatic memory detect tool. This will give you all the details you need for your memory.

1 - Place CD in the Drive
2 - Restart PC and go into Bios by pressing Del, F2 or whatever instruction the start up screen says.

3 - Go to Boot configuration and set it to Boot from CD
4 - Save and Exit
5 - Follow onscreen instructions untill you get to the Windows install screen.
6 - You may have to create a partition (Drive Letter) on your hard drive if nothing was there before, you can assign as much hard drive space as you want to this. If your not sure just use all the space available. This will be your C drive.
7 - Pick the drive you just created and install windows on it using the on screen menu. It will ask you if to format the drive, say yes and use NTFS not FAT as NTFS has more features.
8 - Just say yes to all questions asked after this point.

When windows is installed it will ask you for a CD key and to activate by going on the net, I'm afraid I can't help you with this.

The 25digit key .. is probably the vista key. You need to get the Office key. Usually this is on the jecket for that Office CD

If the product key is not working you will have to contact microsoft in order for them to reactivate your current code that came with the laptop.

Usually Mfg's place a Microsoft sticker on the notebook. Try looking on the bottom side of the notebook. It will say product key & or Vista. Other companies place the product key on a CD sleve's. If the sticker is missing than write down the serial number & model number of the notebook & call HP. The number is on the main web site.

Don't take any **** from HP. (If your's is out of warranty). Ask them where the darn sticker was placed from factory.

If HP does not help than check friends or family. Any Vista key will work. Even if it means you have to call toll free to Microsoft.
Tell them you replaced the hard drive. They'll issue you a new key by phone free. You may need to re-install windows to get at the toll free number. (Sorry I do not have it listed).

Personnally if I had a key for Vista I'd ask for an email address but I do not. Vista is a bad thing.

They only provided you with the trial version of Office. You can check your included materials (CDs, Manuals, Etc) and see if there is an Office disk with a key on it, but unless you paid extra for it or it was supposed to come with the laptop, you just have the trial version. If all else fails, call up the store you got it from and ask them if it came included.

The product Key is on a sticker on your case. Usually found on either the sides of the case or on the back. If the software your refering to is MS office or MS word you would than find the product key on it's manual or the sleeve that holds the CD.
