That message can be generated in only 2 occasions:
1. the disk has been burned at a high speed and because of that the difference between the reflectivity of the data point and the disk background is smaller than what this player can detect so the player rejects it. The only thing you can do is to burn it at a slower speed.
2. the disk is coded in another format that your player can decode. Actually the only formats that this very basic player can decode are the dvd and vcd. If you get a disk in any other format you will have to load it in a pc, convert it to vcd or dvd and burn it again to a disk. For that you must install and use a converter, one like

When I insert a dvd the player tries to read the disk and then comes back and displays no disk

try playing a disc that you know it has played before. if it does play other dvds then your problen is that it cant read the format in wic dat specific disc u are inserting in there. if it doesnt ready any dvds then insert a music disc in there, if it does play it then u got to change the lens. there is also the possibility then the motor spinning the disc might have gone bad as well so when changing the lens, it is advisable to change the whole lens mechanism.

When i put a disc in, the screen says NG Disc, and the tv says disc cannot play... What can I do?

Hi,

You get it as disc cannot play this is because the disc which you have inserted is in format which your DVD player doesnt supports.

So please change the format and play in your DVD player.

Thanx

Dvp ns725p says: cannot play this disc

Is it for all discs or just certain types of discs? Some DVD players simply cannot play some formats unfortunately. Often, the issue is with burned DVD-R or DVD+R discs or CD Video. Sometimes it's simply a matter of a bad burn. Refer to your manual as to the formats compatible with your player.

Reads Bad Disc also. Just bought a memorex DVD lens cleaner disc. And that also reads bad disc.

What is the format of the data on your CD?

It is not all players that plays all CD's, so maybe the CD you inserted is among those that your player cannot play.

Or maybe you need to change the lens totally, but before you do this, try some other CD's on the player and see how it responds.

Have just bought dvp 5960 it will not play downloaded off my computer just shows unknown disc

The DVP5960 should play ANY DVD format except DVDRAM.

Do bought DVDs play ok? If so, then the problem is probably not the player.

What file type are you burning on to the disc? .AVI (DivX) & .VOB (DVD) files should be ok.

If you are using Windows Explorer to drag & drop the files to the disc, you will also need to finalize the disc.

Keeps flashing "Bad disc".....

Try playing a CD instead of a DVD, if the audio CD plays normally that means that the laser on the DVD side is defective. This devices come with 2 laser picks, one for CD and the other one for DVDs.
