Like to know whether my Samsung 997DF 19"Monitor still carries the warranty

Hi there remove the RAM clean then slot & fix it bac. Now try to on the PC & let me know the result.

u need to reset the power of the monitor because the monitor have outoreduevinator.

you can call ViewSonic Customer Support: 800-688-6688 in the U.S. and 866-463-4775 in Canada, give them your product serial no and they would be able to give you the status on your product warranty.

In case you want to avail the warranty service they would also give you a RMA (Return Material Authorization number) number.

As mentioned on ViewSonic website "ViewSonic LCD computer display products carry a three (3) year limited warranty for parts, labor and LCD backlight. Optiquest products carry a limited warranty of one (1) year for parts, labor and backlight. In order to receive warranty service, proof of purchase of the ViewSonic product is required."

hey possible reason is your memory, try to increase your memory, or your pc have lots of worms on it, so make sure you clean up your pc, and also on the software that you installed, try to uninstall things you dont need.

have you checked the soldering to see if theres any dry joints?

Have the model number and serial number of your monitor on hand when you call. Even if it's out of warranty, they will get you in touch with a service location near you.

The official word from Samsung is: "Backlights are not replaceable by consumers." So you may have some trouble finding one. Alternatively, armed with your model and serial number, you may be able to get the part from one of the authorized service vendors. Even the most prolific of parts retailers don't seem to carry a backlight for the 181T

Have you connected the laptop to another monitor and use the same refresh rates that cause the distortion? If the distortion appears on a different monitor, then I would have your laptop examined by a pc engineer, but, if the distortion only appears on the 997DF monitor, I suggest having the monitor checked at a repair shop, also, have you tried connecting the 997DF to a desktop PC, and use the same refresh rates?

Sometimes lcds will turn a yellow/brown/redish colour if they overheat. normally this will not cause long term damage to the screen but it is not good for it, try letting the monitor cool then using commpressed air to get rid of dust or attach a small fan to see if it helps. This may not fix the problem but should confirm if thats what it is.

This sounds like the common STR type regulator IC problem that goes bad with most of these samsung monitors. Not a hard thing to fix,but withg the hi voltage and the safty issues involved, It would be best to have a pro fix this for you. Good Luck
