Franklin Electronic Holy Bible B-o-o-k-m-a-n KJB 640

Hi, My Bible is not turning on, even with fresh batteries. I don't think it has been dropped or gone swimming or anything like that. I received two at the same time and the other is working fine so I am puzzled as to what could be the cause. The problem occurred years down the line so no warranty is left. Help!

I had the same problem and I could not find my operating manual. I went on line to the Franklin Bookman KIB-640 operation manual. I discovered under the Troubleshooting chapter on page 14 a solution tht worke for me. One solution is to: Gentally hold the Clear Button down and gentally press the On/Off button. Continue gentally depress the Clear and On/Off keys for a few seconds to give the system to respond. when a response is seen, release the buttons, press press and immediately release the Clear button and then inter your desired request. THIS WORKED FOR ME !!!

If that does not work for you, use the end of a paper clip to gentally depress the recessed Reset button on the back of the Bookman.

Let me know if you were syccessful inreactivating your Bookman to your satisfaction at [email protected].

Franklin bookman kjv electrnic bible only showing half lines

Perhaps a prayer to your Lord will solve the problem?
Perhaps even a real bible is better? I would not trust all the electronic stuff of my beliefs.

What type of batteries to use for king james and international bible with holman dictinoary

That would depend on the model of your Franklin reader. Some, like the KJB-1440, take two CR2032 batteries. Others, like the KJB-1840, take four AAA batteries.
If the batteries are long and skinny, they're AAAs. If they're flat like coins, they're CR2032s.

Some letters in the display are malformed. If the text is scrolled, the problems move on the screen - its not pixels on the screen that are faulty. The fault appears to be in the data. I've tried reset but...

Simple. Hold the niv device in your right hand. Stand up. Walk to the nearest garbage can. Drop the niv into the garbage can. Take the garbage to the curb. Go to eBay and purchase a real Bible, the Franklin KJB-640, the actual Word of God, AKA, The King James Bible. Best electronic Bible ever made.

Problem Solved.

See? That really was simple, wasn't it?

Function button not working, cannot get bible to recognize numerals, thus cannot go to 1 corinthians 1 for example, it reads Q Corinthians Q

Remove the five screws from the back of the Bible, gently separate the front from the back of the Bible with a flat blade screwdriver. Note, when the Bible is apart be as careful as you have ever been in your life with the display and especially with the flat cable connected to the display, or you might accidentally cause a void line to permanently appear in the display when you get it back together. Gently remove the rubber keypad. Take a Q-tip swab or two with some rubbing alcohol and gently clean all of the black contacts on the back of the keypad and also where the contacts touch against the circuit board. Make sure that you clean every one of them leaving no specs of dust or cotton on anything. Also leave none on or near any part of the display or window or you will be looking at these for the next ten years while you read the powerful Word of God. This has worked for me several times, but I own three of them, and still have the first one I purchased new about twenty years ago. The Frankin KJB-640 is by far the best electronic Bible ever made and nothing has since come remotely close. KJB stands for King James Bible. Any other so called version belongs in the garbage can. Trust me on this one, and read the Bible daily, or continue being completely miserable for the rest of your life.

Franklin Electronic Bible, KJ-21, 1st edition, 1989, quit

Marlene, My parents also gave us the KJ-21, about 1988, then costing $250. Still works great. Love it. Franklin.com. Response: "Unfortunately, the KJ-21 is no longer available. The current model is the KJV-570." Checked site for price: about $50. Don't know if it does same as KJ-21. Brother gave me KJV-450. Won't even go directly to "Jesus wept."
