General Electric model # GSS25JSRFSS

Hi, Im having a problem with my side by side Fridge (see model above)

This unit has been making a howling sound like... FOREVER..
A week ago the ice and water dispenser stopped working. I would press to dispense but nothing, not a sound. Also, every time I press to dispense the green led fades and the light too. Plus, there is a clicking sound in the back of the unit, like a relay clicking continuously. The clicking stops when the compressor starts running
I purchased the Recess Dsply 4btn Black (part # WR55X10444).. but nothing has changed. The unit remains doing the same.

Right now the clicking is non stop and the compressor stopped working.

I haven't bought the Main Control Board since I already purchase the Recess display and looks like a wasted money. What do you advice?

Anyway a year after it has been doing it or about 10 days ago when I ordered the control board the refrigerator stopped dispensing water and ice along with making a clicking sound. When I opened the door the digital temperature setting displays would turn off and on in succession with the clicking noise

If your appliance is humming then your motor might be out. Im not positive but i had a similar problem of the humming and clicking and the entire motor burned up. Might be a reason the lights are fading and such... Hope this helps

Our fridge makes a howling sound when running. Does the motherboard need changing? Thanks

I think that howling might be due to some sort of air restriction. That air restriction might be due to a failed defrost heater or termination thermostat. I have your service manual HERE

My fridge is howling pretty loudly when ever it runs , the howling is coming from behind the ice maker turned the ic e maker off but unit st ill howls what s wrong

Hi, It sounds like the evaporator fan motor is going bad or there is frost building up and hitting the fan blade.
Unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear panel inside the freezer and locate the fan.
You can plug the refrigerator in and see if the fan is making the noise.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Howling sound from freezer fan section

it is most likely the fan bushings that are making the noise. you can try to lube them with a light oil if you want to buy some time. but the fan motor will need to be replaced soon.

Fridge makes howling noise

Hi there!

Check at the back for any objects or packets that are in contact with a fan. This often causes unusual noises.

See if you can identify the source of the noise, ao I can help further.

Thanks.
