When I try to connect my seagate free agent 1tb drive to my desktop pc which is loaded with windows 2003 the drive is not displayed in the my computer... but it seems to get detected. why i am very confident about that is because when i try to do the "safely remove hardware" it shows the name of the drive there. and when i tried to install the software that came along with the drive i get an error "drive manager requires that your computer is running windows vista or windows xp".....please help

Go to compmgmt.msc, click the + next to storage and then click on disc management, here u will see the freeagent, right click on it and click 'assign drive letter'... give Z: and then OK. Once the letter is there, right click again and click on 'assignn letter again', click on add and simply click OK. You are done, go to windows explorer and u'll see ur seagate freeagent drive there.

Seagate disk wizard on windows 2003 server is not allowed by seagate. I found a way to overcome this... you have to download Orca.
Orca is a program that can edit msi installer files... there I could delete server 2003 restrictions. Afther that i could install it in 2003 server with no problem... and it works... thanks to that I can use my 3TB hard drive with full diskspace (GPT). Just google it.. It can be done..

HI! I just bought a free agent 1TB to USB 2.0.

I'm not familiar with Carbonite but can't see why you couldn't use it to backup your new drive provided your PC just sees out as an ordinary (if external) drive. As for USB compatibility, the USB specification is backward compatable so your drive should work fine, if slower, when connected to a USB 1.0 port.

Hope that helps.

We have the seagate free agent and don't know where to go to drag our items from main hard drive to the seagate

Double click on My Computer expand the "C" drive / minimise and simply drag from one drive to the other.

My 1tb free agent pro drive using firewire is not useable in windows 7 64 bit.

Hi,

The original software on the drive was not designed for Windows 7, 32/64 bit. Seagate has released a new version of the software that should work for you but you must request it from them including your drive serial number.

You will need to click the link below then click the register and submit a case by email link. This will take you to an online form where you can fill in the information about your drive and request Windows 7 64 bit compatible software. Once they have verified your serial number they will email you the link to download the software you need. I would suggests saving a copy to a flash drive or CD for re-installing later if needed.
