Pvs50-36fv just looking to find the manual on-line and to see the problem codes in a print-out. We have a similar problem to: By acmesser on Oct 04, 2010 Rheem Power Vent PVS50-36FV..Constantly goes to lock out..Unplug it turn it off . wait and turn on but sometimes in a day or a week again goes out .\r\nWhat to do?? MY WATER HEATER: Model - Rheem PVS50 36FV Ser# - 0906505102 Item # - 970103205 Alt - 0-5000(0-1524m) The heater is 3 years old - I first cleaned the inside and gently brushed the heat sensor (thermal couple?) with green soft spongy sanding pad. It started working for short periods but constantly went out. It restarted with electrical cord-plug removed and reinstalled. I then replaced the entire heat sensor unit and cleaned the gas chamber again and it worked for about 6 months. I frequently checked the vent pipe and found no obstructions. It is now back to stopping every 1-2 days and the code light does not change from constant green blinking. Any new ideas for this?

I need the full model number of the water heater to pull the manual on it for you.... so far only an error code 61 is shown. sometimes a 6 can look like a 5 on a digital display if it's a 6 then error code 61 is bad fan motor or printed circuit board that sends power to the fan motor.Get me the full model number, we can go from there

Go to the manual or go on line for the manual and look up the code and its meaning.

Get the manual for it on line and look up the beeping meaning and the reaqon for the priority lite.

1) Be careful before you Call Whirlpool 1-877-817-6750.
Be careful what you report so not to void warranty because installation protocol was not followed. Whirlpool will cover gas control valve, and possibly the installation of valve which takes about 15 minutes and does not require emptying water heater.
************So make sure you report installation that is consistent with installation shown in manual.

2) Whirlpool will also answer this same question later today with invitation to contact them.

4) If dirt or debris gets into gas control valve, it will cause it not to work. Such as broken gas line. Debris can enter gas line.
Or if too much pipe dope was used on gas connection, or stray teflon tape got into line and then into valve, or end of pipe got dirty during installation, and then dirt got into gas control.
Take off gas line and use vacuum cleaner to see if something can be removed by suction. Clean up the joints.

5) It appears you have ordinary Honeywell gas control valve on atmospheric vented water heater with 9 year parts-labor warranty..
Unknown error code, so it is hard to look up solution in service manual.

I recently had a similar problem with my N-132M-ASME heater. The unit would come on, then shut down and flash Error Code 21. According to the owners manual, that code indicates the unit is not getting enough air. I tried vacuuming the unit, blowing it our with air and checking to be sure the exhaust lines were clear. Nothing helped. A service technician came out and recommended I descale the unit and clean the burner. I did this but the problem did not go away. He also suggested I replace the Burner Sensor. It's not an expensive part, around $20. I ordered the part and have not had a problem since I installed it. Hope this helps.

Tankless should never be installed with plastic pipe, PVC or CPVC etc.

just clean shower head or faucet with CLR to increase water flow. I have same problem

Ensure gas type and pressure are correct.
Bleed all air from gas lines.
Ensure gas line, meter, and regulator are sized properly.
Ensure appliance is properly grounded.
Check gas solenoid valves for open or short circuits.
Ensure igniter is operational.
Check igniter wiring harness for damage.

Error code 12 is 'Flame Failure'
Ensure you have gas to the appliance.
Ensure gas type and pressure are correct.
Bleed all air from gas lines.
Ensure flame rod wire is connected.
Check flame rod for carbon build-up.
Ensure gas line, meter, and regulator are sized properly.
Ensure appliance is properly grounded.
Check gas solenoid valves for open or short circuits.
Check power supply for loose connections.
Check power supply for proper voltage and voltage drops.
Disconnect remote control.
Disconnect and re-connect all wiring harnesses on unit and PC board.
Ensure proper venting material was installed.
Ensure condensation collar was installed properly.
Ensure maximum vertical vent length does not exceed allowable limits.
Ensure maximimum horizontal vent length does not exceed allowable limits.

Range of causes are part failure, gas pressure loss, air in gas line, improper installation of gas line or vent, 120V power to unit is disrupted or unit not grounded, circuit problems, venting problems, remote control, wiring to PC board, board failure, carbon build-up on flame rod, short circuits on gas valve solenoids.
The fact that you have error code tends to eliminate your plumbing as culprit, the error code does not mention air supply, otherwise it looks like every possible cause is on the table.
