Probably is the metal heating up and expanding. Does everything still work? Your not smelling any smoke are you. If it still works fine and your not seeing any smoke or smelling anything burning it probably is OK. Does it do this everytime you use it? The sheet metal on the outside and inside can expand and if it is crimped at all it will make a noise when it heats up and expands. I hear this a lot where I work, we deal with extreme temperatures and when metal heats up it expands and pops sometimes!

Black & Decker Toaster Oven - elements cycle on and off, which makes for a SLOW cook.

Oven has three modes: 1) oven mode cycles elements on and off to maintain a specific temp setting for up to 60 min. 2) toast should keep all elements on for a few min. 3) broil mode top elements only always on, up to 60 min. Make sure you have dials in correct position and use the toast timer.

I need to replace a dkj/1-60 timer for a toaster oven. Where can I buy the part?

You cannot find this part anywhere! I contacted the factory that makes them in China. They won't sell you one. Minimum order is 5,000 parts. I told them I was interested in a large order and asked if I could get a sample switch. They sent me 3 of them for the cost of shipping!!!!

My black and decker toaster oven is less than a year old and it has a burned out smell coming from it. I feel it might be a fire hazard and I am not comfortable using it anymore for fear of fire. What can...

Your problem is very likely the timer switch. They are very poorly made and they have a high failure rate. B&D should have a recall on these switches. It's likely a DKJ/1-60 timer switch. They make a very poor electrical contact which causes the switch and possibly the wall plug to overheat. Mine melted the wire insulation at the switch and failed. These switches are impossible to find fortunately because they are all subject to the same failure. There are a couple timer switches made for Delonghi ovens that will work in the B&D and other ovens that use the DKJ/1-60 timer switch. One is part # 5218104600 which works the same as the B&D switch but it only has about a 13 minute toast timer. Turn it counterCW to turn the oven on. There is another switch with a 120 minute timer which is part # 5218101800 but may be harder to find. The 13 min timer switch can be purchased for $10.98 at Gourmet Depot website. Another solution is to replace the bad switch with a single pole single throw toggle switch rated for 20 amp's at 120 volts AC. You will no longer have a timer and you will need to turn the oven on and off manually but at least you will be able to use the oven and the switches are under $10 and much safer than timer switches.

I have an oster toaster that worked for about 8 months, then just recently it shows this error (err) aftr toasting for a min. do you know what i can do?

It sounds like you have the same problem as the Oster 6248 typically develops. The fix is to avoid ever buying anything made by Oster again, because it's all the same ****, made in China, just more overpriced.

Convection Oven OSTER 6248 err on the screen

I'm afraid you are screwed, because this is the usual failure scenario for this model. Mine just failed the same way, and it's only a couple of years old. I would avoid buying anything Oster in the future, because it's all made in China nowadays. Check out the reviews on this model, and on the 6058, on Amazon. Some people are reporting that the new model is a fire hazard as well.
If there are any good models coming from any other part of the world, I'd be interested in getting one. If you have any companies making such things in South America I'd definitely recommend supporting your local economy. The USA does not make toaster ovens anymore at all, apparently.

Burnt pie

YES YOU ARE your trying to bake something in a toaster oven :) toaster ovens have two modes toast /bake in this mode top and bottom elements get hot .and broil in this mode only the top elements get hot . the problem is the marketing the word OVEN makes you think of a normal oven that the bottom elements do all the work . toaster ovens work well melting stuff and toasting . thats about it . if you must bake in it try placeing a sheet of foil on top of your baked goods it might insulate the top of you food . good luck ... if this answer helped please rate it a 3 or 4 stars , this high rateing will help keep me in the paid answer department , thank you
