The Pride Jazzy 1115 originally came with the Pilot controller (Pride part # CTLDC 1030) and it has served you well. The manufacturer,Penny and Giles, is no longer manufacturing the Pilot. Fortunately, Pride is providing a new VSI controller 4 key 50 (70) Amp for the Jazzy 1115 (Pridepart number CTLDC1270 ) (manufacturer P & G part #D50148) for a retail cost of $1607. The new VSI controller will also need a new joystick mounting bracket assembly part #FRMASMB 4767 retail $30.
It is possible to have your Pilot controller rebuilt. There are many rebuild facilities that will sell you a reconditioned joystick (VSI or Pilot) for about $500 that will work on your unit. The Pilot controller was a very robust unit but very expensive for Penny and Giles to manufacture. The new replacement VSI controller actually performs better and is more streamlined and smaller. The VSI pushbutton overlay (4 key) is very easy to use, The pushbuttons control on/off/speed increase/decrease. The replacement is easy to do as long as you remember to order the new mounting bracket assembly with the VSI because the old Pilot bracket will not work. All it takes to install is 2 screws to mount the control on the bracket, 2 plugs to connect, and 2 cable ties to secure the wiring. You may want to spray electrical contact cleaner into the plug receptacles on the electronics tray to clean them before plugging in the new parts. Hope this helps.
I am trying to fix one, it seems the regulators are turned on and off by the top board, but I am not sure how it does this. There are at least 2 regulators,. The 5V one marked reg1 is on the middle board that plugs into the bottom piower motor controller board. This is the one contianing the main CPU chip that gets marked with a 4 or 5 stamp. On the power board is another what seems to be a regulator. I tried to jump over it installing a LM7812 12 volt regulator, and while it powers on the device, does not seem to be the answer to reviving this device. So I am convinced the top board LED meter and where the Speed and Joystick connect, along with ribbon cable and the power pushbutton are somehow defective. I am trying to figure out where the 24v power distributes out to the ribbon cable. For testing safely I have 3 9V low current batteries which you can easily hook together to allow safe low current testing of the unit. Somewhere must be either a bad transistor which I see one on the button board, or must be a resistor open or cap shorted causing my issues. Has anyone else ever looked inside the controller to measure voltages and take notes on how they operate to aid anyone in fixing these outdated controllers? There seems to be NO resources anywhere from anyone. Manufacturers apparently throw them in the trash. Not cool when they could have valuable working parts, to fix broken ones, that are mechanically ok.
Now that I have spent some time working on it, its down to not sending 5v logical turn on/off latch to cpu board. There is an I.C. XAA812 surface mount that pin ?2 ? or some pin, I can see it toggles on and off (latched) with the pushbutton. However the signal is not getting down to the main board. This is or was because at one point the ribbon cable was messed up. I have fixed ribbon cable by cutting back bad section. However looks like either blown trace or blown 0ohm resistor

Guy yep you can get another joystick. Cost? $800.00 or more depending on where you get it. Try e-bay they might list a joystick for your chair at a more reasonable cost Hope this helps
Problem is on button board XAA812 chip latched 5v toggle is not making it down to main board. Suspecting blown 0 ohm resistor but havent located one. If someone had a schematic I could easily fix, alas mfr refuses to help. Money hungry.
If Ii ever do figure it out I will sharr the fix here for other techs. Simple fix will save hundreds of dollars. Where do the fried units go so they can be salvaged for people like me who cannot afford to eeplace them?
