Be aware ti takes a camera the same time to save a camera, as it needs to shoot the picture. So if you shoot at 4 seconds, it will take at least 4 seconds to save the picture. When you are shooting under normal conditions, you won't notice it, because a shot from 1/30 of a second is saved in 1/30 of a second after you shot, It becomes noticeable when you use shutter times from half a second or longer, but it is absolute normal for any digital camera.
You have to navigate through the menu to get to the ALL ERASE or FORMAT selection.
MODE MENU>>>CARD>>>CARD SETUP>>>ALL ERASE or FOMAT
When you turn the camera ON and press OK, you will get the "first menu". Press the right arrow to enter the Mode Menu. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the above item. Once on ALL ERASE or FORMAT, press OK.
Press down-arrow repeatedly and select the timer (looks like a one-handed clock). Press the shutter button to take the picture. The control lamp lights for about ten seconds, blinks for two, then the camera takes the picture.
Refer to the section "Using the self-timer" in the Reference Manual.
In your manual look up page 49 AF illuminator change the setting to off and then you rprblem will go away I have had this camera for ages and couldn't figure heaps out this was so easy to fix yet so hard to find the answer. I have the Olympus e-410 and I cant get the pictures to upload to my PC. I have connected it and have gone into easy print and normally that works. I have even had to turn the camera off and on a few times and then it will kick in but it wont do any of that this time. I cant find the manual and it was my husbands camera before we got married and he only upload once before that. HELP!
It is a problem that has happened to 2 out of 2 of my Stylus 410's. Olympus will not reapir them unless they are under warrenty (or for $175). I filed with the BBB...we'll see if that helps. They really need to recall them. Good luck. =)
