Sounds like a bad rca connection. You need both rca jacks to be plugged in from your head unit, both left and right or you will not have full power you'll have half power to your sub/subs. Check your sub with a volt meter and see what it reads. Make sure if your head unit has a sub volume make sure it's turned up. Alot of people don't realize they have a seperate subwoofer volume on there deck and it's set to low, so check that. You could have bad rca cables. If all that is ruled out(best way by trying a different amp) the amp itself might be having problems. Don't think it would be in protect mode either.
Let me know if you have'nt allready.

I have a JL total mobile audio T500.1 mono amp and it was playing then all the sudden it stopped and the power light which is usually green is now red and stays red and no sound comes from the subs any...

This happens when the amp goes into protection mode. 90% of the time, it means there is a short or has another issue inside the unit and has to be fixed or replaced. Hope this helps and good luck!

My jl 500.1 amp dosent play anything.

you have your sub wired incorrectly. your amp shouldn't get hot unless you're settings are too high or your'e sending too small of an ohm load to the amp. this would cause it to heat up and will fry your amp.

What to do

well i don't know your budget, but if that's not really and issue, right now at best buy, alpine type E, 10" subs, peak is 750w and rms is 250w, each is 129.99. Alpine type R, 10" subs, peak is 1500w and rms is 500w, each is 199.99. These are the best subs i found at best buy. You could sell your current subwoofers and purchase those, and you'd save space and still get the lows you want. Goodluck

System not playing

Sounds like the output transistors on the amp are blown. Were you slammin when it stopped or how did you find out it stopped working. It could be the sub failed then caused the ap to go which is why you get a little something from the JL.
