The problem can be the cable or speakers or RX-V463 or settings. Need to check one by one.
Set the RX-V on DTS or Dolby Digital
1) Check Cables - connect the 2 (surround) cables from RXV's Centre Out to Centre speaker. If the Centre speaker works, then cables are ok.
2) Check speakers - Connect each Surround speaker to RXV's Centre out. If it works Speakers are ok.
3) Check RXV - Set it on DTS or Dolby Digital
Connect RXV's surround out (one at a time) L and R to the Centre speaker. If there is no sound, the problem could be RXV's settings (I need to read the manual).
Check your "GUI" settings first. Make sure that the Sub is in the mix for the speaker setup. Set it to "Both". If it's already "On", post a reply with the make and model of your sub and I can help you further.
Hello,
It is unclear to me as to what you mean when you say they do not activate. Does that mean that they just don't play, or does it mean that your receiverdoesn't show them on the display? If your not hearing the sound from the speakers, are you sure your dvd movie is capable of outputting 7.1 or is it only 5.1?
If the receiver doesn't show the speakers on the display, try running through the speaker setup again to make sure you selected both sides and rears for the setup.
Good Luck
You must connect from the Bluray both HDMI and SPDIF to the receiver, and turn TV volume down. TV does not send the sound
from HDMI inputs out digitally, only sound from TV channels.
Check HDMI Sound settings: Enter Setup menu via remote, then Func. Setup / HDMI / Audio. You can choose from Amp (sound will be played via Yamaha), TV (sound will go straight via HDMI out to your TV and not play on Yamaha) and Amp+TV (Yamaha will play the sound and also pass it to the TV). Also what is your source? DVD or some network player? For example Yamaha cannot decode audio in AAC or other computer formats, so be sure to change the audio settings of your player to output PCM and not raw/bitstream.
If your Blu-Ray player has TrueHD or DTS-MA decoding, then it will send a already-decoded audio signal to your receiver. The receiver should then just recognize this as "Straight" decoding, because it isn't actually doing any decoding.
The rx-v663 has 2 hdmi inputs, and 1 HDMI Outputs, The way I would run is 1 HDMI in dedicated to the Blu-ray, This will do the audio HD True digital, DTS-HD , then video out to the TV for HD 1080p resolution, On the cable box out do you have an HDMI 1.3? If so sport it to the other available receiver HDMI IN, net the same in/out as the blue ray, minus a 1080p result video which will only happen Blu-ray, cable will result 1080i HD and audio HD will vary with the signal broadcast format.
