A continuous flashing red light with the word LAMP on it would definitely mean you're going to need to spend a few bucks on a new lamp....or for a few more, upgrade to a TV from this century that doesn't require lamp changes :)
Hi, Red light flashing on tv indicates that tv got some problem and shifted to protection mode to avoid further damage. If Lamp light is flashing on tv then check lamp that would be dead or broke, replace lamp to solve tv problem. If standby red light is flashing on tv then let me know how many times it is flashing after 3 seconds long pause to provide you helpful info. Thanks.
Look in the owner's manual. These lights indicate the current condition. Usually the lamp light will go on if the lamp has failed and similarly the temp light if the fan has failed. With both, there may be a different problem. If you can confirm your model number, I can look up the problem indication as well.
You did not specify the brand and model of your tv but based on experience the red light indicator flashing means a projection lamp problem. Check the lamp and lamp doors if properly secured. If symptom persist you need to replace the lamp.
remove back panel. blow out all the dust from all the components except the fan on the right.
Vacuum out all the dust.
Have you replaced the lamp? that would help too.
There are 2 small red lamp. One indicates HEAT problem. The other one is the LAMP indicator.

Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.

Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.
Depending on what light is flashing it could be a few things. If the Lamp light (the middle one) is flashing that is problem with or around the lamp. That orange or amber light is an indication that the lamp is reaching the end of its life
If it is the Temperature light (the far right one) then the TV is shutting down because it is over heating and you need to check the cooling fan.
