If you'd like further guidance on reattaching it, please give the Dyson customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA), or 1800 239 766 (AU).
You can order the switch from the following sites. According to the first site, the DC17 and DC18 switches have the same part number, so I'd use the second site. It costs less. I didn't check the shipping costs, though. http://www.marbeck.com/vacuum_parts_dyson.html
I am unsure as to the part you are referring to. Please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US) so that one of our advisors can assist you.
The thoe or the wand is clogged. Remove the hose at the machine end, reverse it and turn the machine on. This should **** the blockage out, the way it got in. If you hear the motor straining, it's still clogged. I've already taped a small hook, like a screen door hook onto a broomstixk and fished into the blockage to remove it. Be carefol. If you puncture the hose by pulling too hard, the hose will be ruined. Tahe your time and look for something unecpected, like a toothpick or a LEGO piece. They and vacuum cleaner friendly.
