SOURCE: i need repair help. no schematics

It sounds like the power supply (inside the amp) isn't producing voltage. This is generally due to blown power supply FETs but can be caused by broken connections. I'm assuming that you've checked the remote and B+ and they're at least 12v at the amp.

SOURCE: my amp wont go past protect mode

I had the same problem. be sure to change all transistors cause once one goes the rest useally goes right along with it... replaceing one or two transistors will not do the trick, cause once you power up again the rest of them will go, & you will have to repeat the prosses

My JVC cd receiver model Kd R-310 reads protect on the display and won't work. I cut the wires to try to install it in my 2002 grand am. Can this be fixed?

Repair cost would exceed replacement cost. Try disconnecting all the speakers and see if it works then. Try reconnecting each speaker by itself and see if that causes the problem. Most grand am have the monsoon sound syatem...even if they aren't labeled as such. Pull the carpet in the trunk on the left (drivers) side wheel well. The monsoon amp is located over the wheel if you have a monsoon system. If you have to remove the amp then you must change the speakers out or rewire them as the monsoon system uses bi amp speakers. Most of the ga forums have extensive write ups on this system.

Does a 2004 Pontiac Montana's radio have an amplifier? If it does, where would it be???

Unless the face of the stereo says MONSOON there is no separate amplifier. On a Non-Monsoon Delco system all four amplifiers are built into the stereo, Left front, Right front, Left rear, and Right rear. Monsoon systems do have a separate amplifier which basically boosts the output of the four regular amps in the radio. I can't imagine all four of those amplifier output chips going out at the exact same time. I would pull the stereo and check if all plugs are seated properly. If those were all securely plugged in I would (myself) inspect the inside of the unit for the cause of failure. For example all four amp chips pull power from a common point and if one chip had a severe enough short in it, this may have caused the power feed trace on a circuit board to overload (too much current going through it) and created an open which killed power to all four of them. Any good electronics repair shop worth their salt should be able to repair it if you can locate one willing to try. It may only need a circuit board trace repair and one amp chip replaced.

I just bought a old school lanzar opti 50c amp but i need to know what is the postive and negtive for the speaker output and what one is for bridgeing?and what is the spec? what is the lowest ohm i can go

the 50 C was used as a cheater amp back in the 90. You will be shocked by what this thing is capable of doing you can run an entire system subs mids and highs off of this 50 C. About 1300 watts

I have a Lanzar HTG2600D amp, Iv hooked up systems for years so its not the obvious. The green light is on, everything it hooked up, the fan is running but there is no sound. I pulled the base cover off...

did you run direct to the speakers or to the rear of the radio to split factory wiring. Check to make sure that you are connected to the correct side of the wiring behind the radio. If that is correct, then check the input of the amp. Try a different source and see if you get signal. Make sure your wiring is not crimped.

I use my ipod and hook it to an 1/8" x RCA splitter and plug direct in the amp. try to isolate the amp as much as possible. 1 speaker to outputs and 1 source you know works. Then test from there.

Hooking up system to a factory infinity sound system in a jeep grand cherokee.

Tap into a signal wire (rear speaker wire) using a line level converter.
These convert the High level speaker wire output into low level RCA output that is accepted by your amplifier.
c5b61ef.jpg Get a good one Pacific Accessory Corporation (PAC) sni-35 is the best IMO.
The TRUNK-LOC is the SAME as the SNI-35 - but it incorporates a voltage sensing input - so you dont need to run an additional turn-on wire. The voltage is sensed through the speaker wire - and it turns on the amplifier.

Then you will need a fused power wire from the battery,
Ground to chassis, and remote turn on lead (if you use a standard line level adapter).

An amplifier installation kit will give you everything you need to add 1 amplifier (except the converter)

I have a lanzar mxa232 there is a L & R low. I do not have that on my head unit. How do I tie them in?

You would need a Line Output Converter (LOC) to convert the speaker level of the head unit to preamp level.

The amp also has speaker level inputs but the LOC will probably produce better results.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Amp

Pulling to much power? Do you mean clipping? When an amp is over powered (gains are to high) a amp will distort much like a deck destorts at high volumes and it will sound horrible. Make sure your setup is to within specificatons of the amp. (impediance and such)
