Worked fine until today! When I press the remote button in my car the green light goes on ( on the remote and on the opener in the garage ) but nothing else happens. The wired opener button on garage wall works just fine .
The little button with a padlock on the wall control is a "vacation" lockout feature that disables the remotes. There should be a small LED on the wall control that is always on steady. When the padlock button is pressed and released the LED should be constantly blinking (indicating the vacation lockout mode is active) and your remotes should be disabled. The wall control will still operate the door. Pushing the padlock button again should make the LED stop blinking and restore the door to normal operation.
I have a problem with the garage door opener. The wall control operates ok. First i couldn't close the door with remote but could close. But recently i couldn't open and close and wall control still works ok. But i noticed the right side senser light is not blinking it's off. Is the problem with the senser?
My solution for this problem was to reset the remotes. I have a 2004 Sears opener. To reset the remotes, a reset button on the motor itself (my model's reset button is located underneath the light cover, which swings down for access, and is the same button used to reset the code), is pushed and then the remote button is held until the lights on the motor blink (in my case it took ~2 seconds).
Check out George B's solution. It worked for me, and saved me a lot of useless trouble! The little 'lock' button on the wired connection. Should turn off the blinking LED light that indicates remotes won't work...for vacation safety.
The internet has all sorts of features, some not so good, most really great. Count this among the latter. I'm not good at keeping track of a bunch of owners manuals, so I would have let this green light blinking phenomenon/no remote from car problem go for a long time. One google search away, and some helpful person has solved my "problem" almost quicker than it took to search for the answer! Thanks for helping with a solution. That's building community. Good karma! Thanks so much.
Coincidentally, as soon as the neighbor with the new router moved, the garage door openers started working again. Just before the problem started, geek squad was working on their router. Apparently, they changed a channel that affected all of our garage door openers (within 4-5 houses each way).
SOURCE: Garage door only opens with wall unit
a component in the wall unit is failing , that makes the conection happen when the remote signal is recieved , ( it is recieving the remote signal but not sending it out to the control circuit for the motor )
Clear out anything previously
programmed into the in-car system from the factory by holding down
on the 2-outside buttons simultaneously, until the in-car LED starts
flashing rapidly. This may take up to a minute (in most cases, the
key should be on auxilary, and/or the car door must be shut).
Decide which button you want to
make to be your in-car garage door transmitter. Hold your
transmitter up near the selected button, pressing both the garage
door remote and the selected in-car transmitter button
simultaneously. Hold down on the buttons until the in-car, LED light
flashes rapidly. This sets the in-car remote transmitter to be your
garage door openers make transmitter, but you are not done. You now
need to make this in-car transmitter your personal transmitter.
3. Go to the
Learn Button on your garage door opener. The button is usually next
to the area where the floppy antenna is connected to the motor head.
With Genie it is most often behind the light lens, and an indicator
light flashes red when pressed. With Sears or Liftmaster
(Chamberlain) it is near, or part of, the terminal screw board, and
is a red, green or purple square button with a green, amber or
purple indicator light. Press this learn button momentarily. The
indicator light will turn on and blink if Genie or otherwise stay
lit. For Genie systems, go back to the in-car transmitter button you
programmed and press this button 3 or 4 times, or until the door
starts moving. This should set your in-car transmitter to your
garage door opener. For Liftmaster, Sears, or Linear Megacode press
and hold the in-car button you programmed until the garage opener
light flashes. Your in-car is now programmed to operate your door.

Our remotes just stopped working along with the keyless entry system. We're tried changing batteries and re-programming, and also checked to make sure the vacation lockout feature was not on, and nothing works. A neighbor suggested that a neighbor's new router might be causing the problem. ???
Same problem here. Has worked fine for 5 years and now both remotes do not work but the wall button does. The lock out is off! When I push the remote the LED light on the openner flashes 3 times so it gets something.
I have the same problem with the remote but mine is a Wayne Dalton......I can't find a button with a "padlock" on the wall.
Seems I have the same problem with the garage door remote not working. Plus my neighbour next door has the same problem.. Happened on the same day. Though I think it is our wireless router that is causing the problem. On the day it happened, the night before we replace our anenna on our router.
We have changed the channel on our router to see if it fixes the problem. Haven't tried it, but I'm hoping it works..
My neighbor must have hit the lockout button after I left for work and left my door open. Now I can't get in and there is no other door. The manual key release also will not work Is there any solution now/ [email protected]
After changed out batteries, neither remote works. The wired station works fine.
