Line, faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
Ok after over a year i figured out it was the tcon board. Good luck getting finding one. The first one i ordered from shopjimmy was faulty, didn't realize until after the warranty so i ate the cost of it (honestly i thought that it was good and there was another thing wrong with the tv) so i said wtf and bought one last week from ebay. Bam! it works great!!!
Unscrew the cable off the cable box on the out to TV end, then screw it back on. You may also try a different type of cable, like HDMI or component cable.
In most cases is the screen is covered with vertical lines all the way accross the screen then the T-Con module is at fault. The t-con board is replaceable without having to replace the entire LCD panel which would usually make it cheaper than replacing the TV. The part number I come up with is 1-857-213-11. I have a 46 inch , Sony XBR 4 tv . The past week there has colored vertical lines that appear on the screen for about 10 minutes . Then they go away . What is the problem and solution?
The resolution on this was to check the surge protector the television was plugged into. Once we unplugged and plugged into another surge protector, the screen went back to normal and the appearance was great. We believe this was due to one of the resistors within the surge protector may have become faulty.
