I was just given a Euro-Pro that hasn't been used for awhile. When I turn it on it has a very high pitch constant tone (running the dog out of the house). It warms but does not get hot or steam. I turned the steam function off and the high pitched tone went away. Now it will beep, the heat light comes on, I open it up, the heat light turns off and it is still only warm. I've gone through this cycle several times. I would like to use the steam cycle. Thanks for any help.

Sending the iron press to the maker was not the solution I was hoping for but now I know it's not something simple.

Open the press before turning it on. The alarm will sound if you turn the press on with the lid closed and steam selected.

I have a EURO-PRO X Model EP965 Steam Generator seems to working but steam is not coming our, neither for the iron nor for the brush.

I think you have a tank that is calcified and is not getting enough heat to the water assuming there is enough water in it. If it was blocked it would either cause the relief valve to vent or explode.

I would start by cleaning it, my best guess would be to run a few cycles with vinegar in it. This is a mild acid that will dissolve the calcium deposits. Try maybe a 50%-50% with vinegar and water.

Be sure the vinegar will not damage the unit, I do not know.

Hope these links help.

Hi, I have been given a Euro-Pro Ironing Solution EP1005 without a manual where do I put water in for steam & how does the suction work Marj

Hi,
I don't know that system, but you're real lucky, that type of irons are fantastic! Most such have something that looks like a big black knob (you can see the same type e.g. on steam cleaners). You screw it counter-clockwise until it opens. Then you fill it up with water through the little hole. That type of valve is the one I have seen the most on pro systems, while my own home type generator iron only has a tank you simply pull off so you can fill it under the faucet. I have no idea how the suction works, except for it being real great as it helps draw the steam through the garment and away, so it gets dry instantly. I'm sure it also allows you to use a lot more steam, e.g. on tough wrinkles...

Why don't you go to the Euro-Pro website, mail them and ask for their help in getting a manual for it? Or maybe you already tried that? If you look around, you might be able to get a downloadable manual from one of the many manual sellers online...

Good luck!

I have a Euro-pro iron with a separate tank for producing steam. When heated and in use it will "spit"unexpectedly which makes is rather useless for most projects. Why does it do this? What can I do?

try adding a calcium cleaner (like CLR) and letting the steam run all the way through without ironing and see if it cleans the steam lines and holes

We fixed ours today. Take the iron plate off (bottom of the iron shaped like a triangle). You are looking for a thermal fuse (or thermal-protector fuse) pictured here for less than $2 at Radio Shack(http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102788&CAWELAID=107599331). You will need needlenose pliers to gently remove the old fuse and the wire cutters to trim the long wires to the same length as the old fuse (less than 1/2"). Also, since the old fuse was 240 C and we only could find a 228 C replacement - we cannot use the iron at the same high temp. So we limited the dial by marking out a portion of the dial. The iron stopped working after I kept the iron on high for an extended period of time. My electrician husband explained that I over heated the iron - breaking the fuse. Not time I'll turn the iron off or down when I'm not using it. This was so easy, I'm going to check out our other broken irons.

Euro-pro iron steam genarator model # ep8001

I have a temporary solution that is working: Use WD-40 around the switch. Spray with the straw that comes with the WD-40. Let stand for a couple days, then turn the whole unit upside down and spray again, and let it stand that way for a couple days. If we could get inside, it could be more of a sure thing, but I had given up on mine and when I accidently hit the switch after siting for the last few days, , it came on!

Now for Sears to try to locate the tool that will open the case.
