Hello

Most people think that replacing a microwave door handle simply involves unscrewing the old one and mounting a new handle. The process is a bit more complicated than that.

Unplug the microwave oven from its power outlet or turn off its circuit breaker.

Open the microwave door and take the top pin off its pivot bracket. Lift up the door and remove it from the bottom bracket. Lay the microwave door with its front side down on a folded towel. Remove the two choke screws from the door frame using a Phillips head screwdriver.

Remove the choke cover with the knife blade, starting from the microwave door's top right corner. Pry out the bottom and top right sides, leaving the side which houses the door handle in place.

Remove the choke tabs from their slots on the microwave door frame using the knife blade. Continue to work clockwise around your microwave door; remove the choker cover when you get to your handle's side to separate it from your choke.

Remove the two handles with the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the handle from the microwave.

Screw the new handle in the position of the original handle. Lay the choke on the microwave door; set the choke cover right on top of it. Insert the choke tabs into their slots on the microwave door frame using the knife blade.

Secure the two choke screws using a Phillips head screwdriver; set the microwave door back on the bottom bracket. Slide the top pin into the microwave's pivot bracket.

Press the top pin down until it pops securely into place.

Can your microwave work without mica cover?

It can be, but it's not recommended. Food can splatter and get into the waveguide and cause problems. Also if you reach in there with your finger right after the microwave stops, you can get a severe shock (until the capacitor discharges, usually in about a minute). Also the edge is sharp.

Drawer tries to close and then opens

I would suspect that a foreign object may have gotten in the pathway of the drawer, the drawer actuator is out of adjustment, or one of the door sensor switch is damaged, defective, or off its mount.

The service manual is at our site here.

You can order Sharp parts from Encompass here.

Sharp insight glass ceramic cooktop, with a cracked glass. I need to replace the glass ceramic cooktop. Model kb 3300 js .... serial 112895. Will be shipped to Puerto Rico.

You can buy the substitution replacement part at searspartsdirect.com for $711.99 (price on 1/29/2011). This is a manufacturer authorized substitution part. I pasted the note about those. We need to purchase one too, but are searching for something less expensive. If we are unable to locate a less expensive option we will probably just buy a new stove, because the replacement cooktop costs almost as much as we paid for our unit when it was new. We are looking at a possible part from sharp for another unit which maybe compatible...if it is it would be $296 before s/h, etc. That is a better price, but still more than I would like to pay for a piece of ceramic glass.
Manufacturer authorized substitution: FANG-B022MRY0 may differ in appearance, but is a functional equivalent to prior parts including FANG-B001MRY0.

Sharp Insight Pro microwave drawer KB6024MS not working

The drawer often stops working when it is abruptly stopped while opening and forced closed or vice-versa. To fix, simply do the following:
1) Push the draw all the way closed
2) Push the "Setup" button repeatedly until the "Open/Close ...?" appears.
3) Hold the Start Button until the time reappears in the display.
4) Repeat steps 2 & 3 three more times
5) Unplug the Microwave for 30 minutes.
The drawer is now reset. The drawer will now open electronically (automatically) either by pushing the open button on the panel or by pulling the drawer handle slightly.

How much is a KB3300JS Cooktop replacement, and do you guys sell them?

Go to searspartsdirect.com and type in KB3300JS and you will get schematics and part numbers for product. They no longer make the original part, but Sears sells the substitution part for 711.99 and has it in stock as of today 1/29/2011. We need a cooktop too since ours is cracked, but we are still looking for a lower priced replacement or we will probably just buy a new stove because by the time we fix the two parts we need to replace we will have spent the same amount of money to buy a new stove. I hope this helps, because it was hard tracking down this information. Glass assemblyNumber:FANG-B001MRY0Substitution:FANG-B022MRY0
