Question about Sewing Machines

Pfaff serger stuck

My pfaff serger gets stuck when the needle is in the up position. I can't turn the wheel all the way around in either direction. It appears that the guard at the top of the needle hits against the machine and won't let it go any further.

Your needle bar has been pushed up and is out of adjustment. You need to take off the side cover, there should be a screw on the back of your machine holding it on. Remove this screw, and remove the cover. You may have to remove the light assembly to reach the screw on the needle bar. Once you can see the needle bar, rotate the handwheel until you can see the screw on the needle bar. Loosen this screw SLIGHTLY until you can turn the needle bar. Hold and rotate the needle bar back and forth as you push down slightly. This will lower the bar.Lower it about 1/4 inch. Adjust the needles by turning the bar so that they are straight across. Tighten the needle bar screw so that the bar doesn't move. Turn the handwheel to see if the threads will be picked up. If not, adjust until they are. Tighten the needle bar screw tightly, reinstall the side cover ,and tighten the screw. Change your needles.Rethead and sew.

I'm trying to find needles for my Pfaff Hobbymatic 875. Haven't had any luck. Do you know where to buy them? Thanks.

The Pfaff Hobbymatic Extra 875 uses standard 15x1 sewing machine needles. The needle you need will depend on the fabric and thread. You'll use a thicker needle for denim than for a lightweight knit. See https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/pfaff-875-serger-machine-parts.aspx?index=14 for a wide selection of different in stock needles.

I hope this helps.

The flywhee on my pfaff 1471 seems to have disengaged after unsuccessfully winding a bobbin. The motor goes but the needle does not go. What to do?

Did you turn the knob inside the hand wheel backwards while holding the wheel itself? If that knob is in the correct position, did you hear it snap into place when you rotated the hand wheel towards yourself? Does the needle bar move up and down when you rotate the hand wheel?

I suspect that the needle bar is still disengaged from the motor mechanism. The manual is available from Pfaff on the creative 1471 page: http://www.pfaff.com/en-US/Machines/creative-1471 . The direct link to the manual is http://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/creative1471-manual-EN.pdf . See page 13 of the PDF for the picture of the direction and position of the knob that should be checked.

If the machine still doesn't work, it may be that the belt is bad. This connects the shaft of the motor to the mechanism that runs the needle bar. You can find a parts list for the 1471 here: https://www.universalsewing.com/tek9.asp?pg=parts_pfaff . Scroll down to find the various 1471 diagrams. The belts are probably available at most Pfaff or other sewing machine dealers. This page, https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/pfaff-1471-sewing-machine-parts.aspx , is one source. You want the motor belt.

I hope this helps.

Forcing it may break some important parts. I recommend taking it for service.

Replacing needles on pfaff 788 serger

No worries. One needle is always lower than the other. Just make sure when installing that the needle is pushed as far as possible before the screw is tightened.
