Hi, I have an Husqvarna 41 chainsaw, it has been brilliant all these years but just recently, for no aparent reason it stopped running when I put it under load. I have stripped it down to clean it and have had no success? I believe it to be a starvation problem. I do not know where the breather is on the gas/petrol tank! Please advise?

Go to partstree.com type in model no then go to crankcase and you will see fuel tank vent and location
on diagram. Be sure to check your fuel line in tank to make sure it is not broken.

2 things you might want to look at.
1) Vacuum test your fuel line. This is a common problem with huskys.

2) Check to see if the exhaust port or spark arrestor screen is plugged up. If so pick out a carbon deposits.

SOURCE: Husqvarna ranger 55 chainsaw starts but quits

I too have a rancher 55 and had what sounds like the same problem this week. It would start fine but run for only a few seconds at a time. I took it all apart today and found the problem - a cracked fuel line. In the places where I could see the hose it looked fine, but it wasn't until I removed the fuel tank that I found the crack...right where it exits the tank and then goes thru the housing above it. You don't need to remove the tank to replace the hose but it is easier that way. You do have to push it thru a grommet at the top of the tank. I read some other posts about checking the tank vent to see that it's not plugged up. Mine was ok so I knew it had to be something else. The vent is in a hole about the size of a pencil and is recessed about an inch into the tank on the upper right side. Its partially covered by a plastic cap that's part of the vibration damper, which can be removed to gain access to the vent. The vent tube can then be pushed out from inside the tank with the use of long needle nose pliers, but be gentle. I just loosened it then pushed it out with a finger. I put it all back together with a new hose and its running like new again!

Here you go. If the price seems high there are likely several more to be found on this page. Good luck with it.

SOURCE: Husqvarna chainsaw 440e - enough chain lube?

That seems low to me. Page 15 in your manual is the only oil discussion I found. Usually there is an oil pump adjustment reference somewhere. I didn't see one beyond return it for service on page 15. Are the chain and bar hot after cutting a while? I recommend you not get a longer bar without an oiler adjustment. I think the hand of the EPA has been here.

An IPL (exploded parts list) for a 440 can be found here:
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/USA/2009/I09000/I0901018.pdf
There is no oiler adjuster listed. HTH

Might be a good idea to copy the IPL,

I have a husqvarna chainsaw 41(1994-05) is what the model number is showing the carb has been rebiult new gasgets it has fire but will not run can u help

The 41 was quite prone to blowing the crank seal on the flywheel side, remove the flywheel and check, at the same time check the flywheel key has not sheared, behind the carb fixing plate is a rubber induction tube, make sure this has not split, als check the impulse seal underneath the induction tube.

Chainsaw very hard to crank. too much compression,does it have a decompression valve? It's a model 41 husqvarna.

There is no deco valve on this model, the later model ( 142 ) had a spring assist starter to aid starting, i am quite sure this is retro fittable onto the 41, part no. 530071968.

Trying to find out what year and model my 350 husqvarna chainsaw is numbers on saw are 967 01 18-00 03 4103750 can you help ?

I am faily certain 967 01 18-00 has to do with the EPA.

If 03 4103750 is the serial number then;
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – useful when downloading IPLs and Manuals
03 4103750
03 = year produced – 2003 (single digit before 2000; please contact Husqvarna for single digit clarification http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/customer-support/)
41 = week produced – October (05-11)
03750 = 3750th unit Husky produced that week (not saw, unit)

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.

Repaired Husqvarna 41 chainsaw won't start.

Hi

The off switch of the chainsaw has to establish the continuity to kill the running engine.First check the switch with a measure apparat.Then check the continuity of the two wiring harness,sepparately.One wire is atached to the ignition module with a screw and goes to the off position of the switch.The other one towards the on position of the switch.Check the spring!
