M-Audio US85100 Keyboard Logo
Posted on Nov 11, 2010

Hi, I just bought a used M-audio Keystation pro 88. I'm using pro tools 8 on a Macbook Pro, 10.6.4. The LCD screen is hardly veiwable, and from the angle I can see it, some of the parts of numbers are missing, like the top of 2, or part of a 4, etc. Right now when I powered it on with reset +- there is only blue light and no numbers came up whatsoever.

Not sure that this info will be of use to you, and i have not tried this on any keyboard, but i had a similar experience with a scale that has a digital display. When i took the thing apart to change its battery i found that the display was actually like a piece of glass. On one edge was a rubber like strip that was the interface between the display and the circuit board. This piece was not seated well against the display part and so the information from the circuit board was only partially making it to the display causing the same sort of result that you describe that you see with the keyboard. You may be able to open up your board and just fiddle with the parts, put it back together and it might start working for you. I had to sort of shim the display with a thin piece of material to get the display to maintain better contact with the rubber strip part. Hopefully, this info will be useful. Good luck!

My child jammed something inside of my keystation pro usb connector.... Broke the copper connectors inside.... Whats the best way t go about this ... replace the entire piece or soder in a new copper line

If the traces are lifted, then use jumpers to the points of origin of each trace. Tack the jumpers down with silicone seal or other adhesive.

Replace the connector ifthere is any chance of damage to the connector itself.

Macbook pro does not detect digi 002 rack

yeah i have an intel imac and had the same problem. I upgraded to pt le 7.4 and now pro tools recognizes the 002 rack and it works fine, but still the core audio manager does not recognize the hardware. It says in "use" when I first turn on the 002 rack, then it says not connected after about 20 seconds. I don't think this really matters though because I have beeen able to do everything fine without having the core audio managr recognizing the 002 rack. I hope that helps

Notes that won't sound

Try to reset the keyboard. Locate the numberpad on the Keystation Pro 88, press and hold down the + & - buttons while powering on the device. This will reset the device but any stored presets will be lost. I hope this helps...more information can be found on M-Audio's website.

Western Digital 500GB

That drive is not suitable for pro-tools. Look for something that has the Oxford 911 or 924 chipset. HFS is the format. Did you format that drive after you bought it? Are you using both windows and os X with either boot camp or parallels?
