JVC Envirio GZ-MG21U Error Msg.

I am getting a message that states "Video management file is broken, recovery is neccessary. Do you want to recover?" I have about 40 hours of video that I need to burn and don't want to lose almost two years of family videos by doing this. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. Sounds like a manufacturer defect but don't see it acknowledged on JVC website.

I had the same issue, but I went ahead and executed the recovery and my videos were still there. I thought I had lost one but it was actually saved/loaded to another image file in the camera which is the same one that the Demo playback file is stored in. I located it by connecting the camera to the PC going under my computer and just opening every file. After I got everything off the camera I went into the menu and executed the data clean up program. I am now scanning internet sites to see if there is a fix listed anywhere to keep it from happening again. Hope this helps.

Every time i upload to my desktop i delete the videos off the camera threw windows xp.

EVERYTIME i turn it on after it says that "video file broken blah blah"
i hit ok and it takes a min. but worked ok after wards.

Every get the auto drop shut off thing? i got that once and camera didnt turn on for months. after 3 months of sitting inside it decides to work 100% !! the 2nd time the camera did that the hard drive says its full so i cant record, i go to look at files and it says "no video files found" followed by a very ironic "hard drive is full"
i've only had it for 2.5 years but 1.5 years after warranty.
the worst part is I NEVER DROPPED THE CAMERA IN THE 1st place.. and when i did this auto shut off thing sure as hell didnt work. jvc has no comment on this as its after warranty.
hopefully in another 3 months i will try again and it will work 100%

What does it mean when I get a message that says "please insert memory card" on my JVC Everio GZ-MG21U?

Make sure you're using an SD card, not a higher-capacity SDHC card. The GZ-MG21U works with SD cards, not with SDHC cards.

Hello....I have a " JVC

here is the manual in pdf form.
I looked though it and it doesnt seem to have a solution. For this "video management file is broken." yet there are many people with this problem.
I would check to make sure you have updated the software since it is a harddrive camera

I have a JVC GZ-MG330. Today I was recording, and then got the "video management file is broken to record/playback video. Recovery is required. Recover?" I have replied OK, it goes to recover, and when it...

Do not be that worried, in this case you still have chance to get back those video chips and you may need video recovery software to help, here are some programs you may rely on. Both programs can also recover photo and music files.

Video Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Video Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Tips:
Take the memory card or stick out and connect to your computer via a card reader. Before your videos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the JVC memory card or stick in case the original files(your videos) are overwritten.

JVC G-z-mg365bu video management file is broken to record/playback video. recovery is required recovery

For broken files, everio will prompt you to recover once switched on. If you mean deleted by accident, you can use file recovery software like Final Data Enterprise and a lot more. Mostly can be recovered, sometimes 80% or 90% of your total recording. Good Luck

Video management problem

sounds like you need to "recover" the hard drive.

Only other option you can try is to reset the camera.

Broken video management file/ recording failure

Although the instructions don’t make it clear, it seems to be important that the camera is turned off before you connect or disconnect the USB cable. The instructions do mention that you should not delete or rename files on the camera except in the EXT_MOV folder. The camera’s firmware is apparently quite fragile about file names and the presence of the extra hidden folders that both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems create when you delete something.
