Dont have enough memory to run a program I installed on my hp 4540 machine. The current mb is 68, I need 512. Where to I upgrade at or can i increase the mb?

512 is not enough to run Windows 7... but before buying RAM... do a search to see if the computer has the requirements see this

Memory upgrade for laptop

Older laptops can be VERY fussy about the memory ... you have to have the exact same 'speed' .. I had a similar problem after trying to upgrade an old machine that took slow memory (PC100) with a FASTER (PC133) module ...

NB> Some VERY old machines would not take 'double sided' modules ... check the manufacturers specs ..

Ram upgradation

The system uses shared video memory, so it will always show less memory than actually installed.
It's a good machine, but needs all memory it can get for Vista.
