Same what as whos?
the PC has the early forum of TPM lock. T series Stinkpads.
the BIOS lock out chip.
it can not be simply reset, (by design)
the BIOS user pass word yes, if SVP adimin pass word to BIOS PW is known. The manual for this PC states this.

The trick of killing all 3 forms of power works on USER BIOS pw ONLY.

the 3 ways are here (besides new mobo) SVP reset.
1: using eeprom programmer connect 2 wire and erase it.
2: replace the chip , sold on ebay by man(solder skills max)
3: at wits end,? just before the mobo hits the trash bin

one can do this. (personally id never do it but ...)'

SOURCE: Lenovo R61 beeps four times and according to

assuming that u r a professional, the bios is not flashed in a wrong way n the ram(s) r ok..
check cmos battery & i/o cables/connectors r properly inserted..clean the teeth of ram(s) using a rubber to remove carbon coating n isopropyl alcohol, n resit it..
..well itz always better to hv a supervision of service center as they r sparsely available at the local market, we usually donot replace the system board as whole but try to repair using scraps n spares..
however, probably system board can ordered online: http://www.thinkpadmedic.com/listing.asp?PL=ThinkPad&CL=SB

SOURCE: Lenovo ThinkPad R61 Fan

Were you able to fix it? I took out the fan and cleaned it with a toothbrush (didn't disassemble it). If it worked, can you provide some insight into what you did?

SOURCE: i hv lenovo thinkpad r61.. i hv drivers bt,itss nt

The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista devicedrivers for your model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true You can download thevarious drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, theywill then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install thevarious drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

I forgot my cmos password what will i do to reset it

You're out of luck. A forgotten CMOS password cannot be bypassed or reset. You are stuck with a locked CMOS.

This only means the CMOS settings are not accessible. This shouldn't stop your computer from booting. That would be the CMOS boot-up password. If you can boot you can reformat. But, you cannot reformat (flash) the locked CMOS.

If you can't boot into the O/S then you're stuck until you can remember your CMOS boot-up password.

Next time, write it down and keep it safe.

another method I have used that works is to remove CMOS batt as you have done before - do not replace it yet though.Power on the dv7 without the battery in then off by holding down the button until it switches off.Remove AC power hold down power button 5 secs to dissipate power and replace CMOS batt, plug in AC and test.Hopefully it clears the bios settings for you

I have Lenovo ThinkPad R61 labtop and password is request for bios the password is POP power on password i remove the battry but the problem is still

To reset bios password on laptop, you must remove CMOS battery, not the regular one.

CMOS battery is ussualy located "under the hood" on the motherboard, so you must disassemble notebook.

Here is how CMOS battery look.

You have a CMOS password on your computer. If you for some reason do remember the password and get into it, then please take the CMOS password off. It only causes heartache.

here's a guide on how to remove a laptop CMOS password:

Reset Supervisor paaword Thinkpad R61. And bios settings already locked

To reset the BIOS password read the information from this link.

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.

It lenovo R61 it has a password whenever you power on the notebook it shows you a lock, i av tried so many ways but i aint lucky

try opening the bottom compartment doors. look for a the cmos battery. If you take the cmos battery out(looks like a watch battery), short out the battery terminals for 60 seconds, this will likely dump any cmos locks/passwords, and default them. Worth a try . Please disconnect all power cords and take the main battery out first. Cheers
