How do you start the self cleaning oven process on a kenmore stove purchased from Sears in 2009?

  1. Empty the Oven
    • Take everything out of the oven. Remove the racks and clean them with soap and water in the kitchen sink. Look for any loose debris such as foil or charred food and remove that as well.
    Oven Cleaning
    • To operate the self cleaning mode, find the switch on the range marked "Clean." The oven door will lock once the cleaning operation has started. Do not open the door until after the self-cleaning process has completed. It will take between two and three hours.
During the cleaning process, you may see and smell smoke. This is normal because the oven is operating at a higher temperature than when it is cooking. The high temperature is reducing all the organic matter in your oven to ash. You will also sometimes hear popping sounds from the oven that is caused by the expansion of metal under extreme heat. This is normal for a self-cleaning operation.
After the oven has completed the cleaning cycle, allow it to cool for a couple of hours. Once cool, take a damp dish cloth and remove the ash from the bottom of the oven. Wipe down the interior of the oven door and around the seal. Be careful around the seal so you do not damage it. Replace the racks back in your oven, and the cleaning operation is complete.
    Other Considerations
    • Clean your oven at least once every three months. If your oven gets heavy use, consider cleaning it once a month. Always run the self-cleaning cycle when you are home. Because it uses intense heat, it is best to perform this operation later in the evening or early in the morning.

I have Model #JER8750AAB Serial#16776012WK When uising the self cleaning feature, oven stopped and F1 displayed on stove ??

  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.

I have a Thermador ME272 double-convection wall oven. After self-cleaning the bottom oven, the bottom oven won't turn on. When I press Lower Oven or Self-Clean on the control panel, I get no beep and...

I would almost guarantee the thermocouple is bad.It is a small rod whose wires come out from the back wall into the oven and is mounted inside the oven, usually near the top. This is a common fail component in ovens due to the temperatures it endures over time, especially with self-cleaning because they usually go over the maximum temperature cooking allowed during cleaning. If you want to test it yourself, you or someone can swap out the 2 thermocouples as they should be identical..Make sure the circuit braker is pulled first.Behind the oven there is probably a cover which is fairly easy to access. If it is possible to switch the 2 connectors without removing the thermocouples,it would obviously be much quicker. If you switch them and turn both ovens on,the problem should switch ovens also.If you switch the thermocouples and the problem DOES NOT switch ovens, the bottom doesn't work but top still does, the circuit board is bad.Wait about a half hour before touching the thermocouple after heatup and leave the door open.Good luck,Greg

I self cleaned my stove kenmore790.9532. It tripped the breaker in my basement. Now the oven doesn't work at all !. when I UNPLUG AND replug the latch motor buzzes real quick. Would it be safe to assume...

Pretty safe to assume. This commonly happens after self cleaning. Here is a link to your part Motor - Latch
You could double check by checking with an ohmeter. Connect one lead to each input wire the needle should move slightly or read less than 1 ohm. Also connect one lead to a single terminal and the other to ground, you should have no continuity. Check both leads this way.

Does stove-top need downdraft if microwave has oven-hood combo?

We have a stove with no downdraft, and a microwave with a hood above it. It works just fine. I expect you could keep your downdraft and put a microwave without a hood above it, and that would also work. I don't think, however, you can buy an above the range mocrowave oven, that slides in on brackets, which will not have a hood.
