All you need is a phone cord (that you dont want to use anymore) just ground the number 4 and 6 wire together and leave the rest alone. plug it in the canopy and then power it on. It should then be at the default ip. I think its 169.254.1.1 or 192.168.100.1.

What are you connecting the wap-1001 to? An existing network . Does the subnet mask match it defaults to 255.255.0.0
if the p.c you plug directly into the ethernet connection of the ap has a different subnet mask it can't talk to the router. how does your p.c get its ip address is it static or dynamic via dhcp server . ip is default of 192.168.1.20 also is anything assigned 192.168.1.20 .

Use the Factory Default Reset button: First, turn off the AP's power. Second, press and hold the default Reset button then turn on the AP's power, until the system LED lights up (about 3 seconds). Last, release the reset button and wait for the AP to reboot.

Reset the factory defaults.

I want to factory reset my nortel AP 7220, how do I reset? What would be default IP after reset?

There is probably a reset button somewhere on the device, it is probably a small pinhole that you put a paper-clip into the reset.
If it has its own http web page, there is likely a reset to factory defualts option.

The ip of the computer connecting to it should not change.
On a computer connected to it, open cmd start>run then type in cmd, and type 'ipconfig'.
It will display details about your connection. Where it says 'default gateway' is the ip of the device.
You could try to put the ip in your browser and see if the device has a web page.
