Best thing to do first is get a thermometer to be sure the temperature is correct. Items still freeze at higher temperatures. If you have ice cream and it is soft, then you have a temp problem.

Kenmore Frostless Upright freezer model# 23971. The alarm sounded, all contents in freezer is frozen solid. We turned the alarm off, but the red light continues to blink. How do you reset the alarm and stop the red light from flashing? If its the power light, and not a temperature alarm light, it may only indicate that there was a power loss, perhaps you had a brown out or power surge. you say the temps are good, any chance you have ice cream or bread in freezer? if its above 10° F they will be first to get soft, rather than firm. If I had the model # as it is on the model number tag, the only tag usually on the inside or possible on the outside, of the unit, that will have the model and serial number both listed.

that's the same problem i incurred, i replaced the thermostat and the fan. seems to be working fine.

i've pulled up the service diagram for it and there's no thermostat or temperature control but there's a limit sensor inside the freezer I'm sure that such sensor is failing and when it defrosts, it stays on to long, and the whole 15 min defrost cycles goes on causing the freezer to warm up, delaying the freezing process. I'm almost sure that the limit is going.
