The time zone has to be manually selected, first, on the back. The followingt web blog talks about the process:

Although the clock is great and functions well, there are a few issues that I have found to be annoying. First, the clock failed to automatically sync with the correct radio signal several times. The instructions were lacking in providing insight into correctly setting this feature. Ultimately, I manually set the clock to sync with the desired source and then forced it to scan for the signal at which time it finally synced. I was going to give up and say screw it since the clock keeps time well enough without the atomic update feature, but after all I did buy an atomic clock. Second, the alarm sound is pleasant and grows louder and more frequent as it sounds however, it automatically shuts off after one minute unless you hit the snooze button or shut it off. I've slept through the alarm a few times thinking that I pressed snooze but didn't. Lastly, the timezone must be manually set via a button on the back. I travel frequently and have found this to only be a minor annoyance as it reminds me to confirm the time with a local source; it's far less time consuming to press a button to set the timezone as opposed to changing the time as I've done with other clocks. Other notes. The display is large and clear. The back light is more than adequate. Setting the alarm time and/or the time manually is easy

Once you set the time zone, it should update automatically.
Refer to your manual for more precise instructions.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

How do I set the time zone? It run out of battery so when I changed it, the time zone is pacific and I need to change it to mountain time.

To change the time zone, open the control compartment cover on the bottom of the clock. Locate the "Time Zone" switch and set it to the appropriate time zone for your area. Six time zones are programmed into your clock, "A" for Atlantic, "E" for Eastern, "C" for Central, "M" for Mountain, "P" for Pacific and "H" for Hawaiian. Once you've chosen the correct time zone for your Brookstone digital desk clock, you must select whether you want the clock to operate using the 12-hour or 24-hour format. The clock is set to the 12-hour format by default. If you'd like to change the setting to the 24-hour format, locate the "Time Format" switch on the bottom of the clock and flip it to "24-hour".
You can also decide whether to turn your clock's automatic Daylight Savings Time feature on or off. If you turn the feature on, your clock will automatically move forward by one hour at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday in March and fall back by one hour at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday in November. To choose your preference, locate the "DST" switch on the bottom of the clock and flip it to "Autoicon1.png" or "Off".

How do I change the time one hour ahead for an RP5430A model clock radio?

Slide the Wake 1/Wake2/Clock switch to the Clock position. Then press the forward button to advance the clock by the needed amount of time. Then slide the switch back to the side with the key icon.

If you set the DST switch to ON, you can move the time zone switch to one time zone further east for a few weeks until the DST change in the program takes effect. Then move the time zone switch back to your current time zone. (Repeat this in the fall to correct for the later change in DST again). The exact length of time between when DST starts and ends versus when the clock will change the program will depend on when the clock was manufactured. Clocks built after July 2006 should have the correct DST programs. Clocks from earlier have a much shorter period of DST (April through Oct).

I hope this helps.

Since the time change I can't reset my clock. It

If your clock radio is more than two years years old it will be operating on the old changeover schedule, and there's no way that you can change the schedule. What you can do though, is turn the DST switch (if so equipped) to the OFF position and change the time manually. If yours is an "atomic" clock you can force the change by setting the clock to a different time zone. (I have an atomic clock that's set up on the old schedule. DST is OFF, and I change the zone between the Central and Eastern time zones.)

I have a radio Shack Atomic Wall Clock 63-1438 and the time didn't change on Oct 31, 2009. Should it automatically change of do I have to reset the clock?

Most atomic clocks simply receive the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) time signal. They do not all allow for daylight savings time changes as not all areas use it.

You will have to adjust manually.

Day Light Savings Time

If you tip your clock over you will see three little buttons under. They are each labeled. Press/hold the one that says "clock" until your display blinks. Use the forward/back buttons on face of clock to re-set time, then press the little "clock" button underneath it again to keep the time you just set. It probably will beep.
When Congress's ideal day comes, re-set it the same way. Sorry, but all this will do is keep you from having to look at the wrong time for a few weeks straight.

Daylight savings time again

Appparently the problem could be with your location, or just that there may be a delay before time correction until the old date - check again the link to amazon i posted before - there are a couple of new reviews that discusss the daylight saving issue, also - The US clock says; "I have a radio controlled clock that receives NIST time. Will the new rules affect me? Your radio controlled clock should automatically implement the new DST rules. The WWVB broadcast contains information that tells your clock whether DST or ST is currently in effect. NIST always sends this information to agree with the current DST rules, so your clock should change automatically on the day of the change, just as it has in previous years. If the time is wrong after the DST change, make sure that your clock has recently received the time signal. Many radio controlled clocks have a synchronization indicator that will tell you if your clock has recently synchronized. If the clock isn't receiving the signal, click here for some tips on improving reception. If it has received the signal recently, check to make sure that the clock's time zone setting is set properly. Also, if you live in an area where DST is not observed (Arizona, for example), you need to disable the automatic DST function on your clock. I have a non-radio controlled clock that used to automatically correct itself for DST. Will it still work? The only way to find out is to wait and see, or to contact the manufacturer of the clock. There are a large number of non-radio controlled clocks, marketed under names like "AUTOSET" or "SMARTSET" that have internal firmware that automatically changes the time by one hour on the transition days to and from DST. These clocks do not connect to a NIST time service, and some of them will no longer work properly due to the DST rule change. For example, clocks manufactured prior to the rule change will probably not switch to DST in March, but will wait until April in accordance with the old rule. If you have a clock like this that fails due to the new rules, your only recourse is to adjust the clock manually, or to contact the manufacturer and ask for an upgrade or a replacement. If you need to contact manufacturer check http://www.emersonscott.com/ezsetamclocr.html Hope this helps:)
