You will need to disassemble youre laptop and get to the cmos battery. This is located in the bottom right hand corner of the inside of the laptop and looks similar to a watch battery. Do not have your laptop plugged in being charged and have the power shut off. Take out the battery and disassemble the laptop. Leave the battery out for about 30 minutes to reset all bios settings, including your password. This should work and you will then be able to enter into Windows.

you'll need to leave it out for about 30 min...

Restart the computer. Press the keyboard key used on the specific computer model to access BIOS (see References below, or manual for your specific computer).

        2

Type in the backdoor password for the BIOS when prompted (see References below for links to determine the password). This will take you directly to the main BIOS screen just as it would if you typed the password that was forgotten.

        3

Select the "Settings" screen. Enter the "Password" portion of the "Settings" screen.

        4

Fill in the box on the screen with whatever new password you choose. Keep a record of this password.

        5

Choose the "Save Changes and Exit the BIOS" option. This completes the resetting of the BIOS password.

    OR TRY THE FOLLOWNG

    Use a Backdoor Password

      1

Go to the Technibble website and locate the manufacturer of the BIOS for your computer. Write down the backdoor passwords that are listed.

      2

Restart the computer and press the "F2" key to access the BIOS.

      3

Enter one of the backdoor passwords to see if you can access the BIOS. Repeat this step until you find a password that works--but keep in mind, sometimes three wrong guesses will cause the computer to lock up.

      4

Change the password for the BIOS to something else, then exit and restart the computer.

    Remove the CMOS Battery

      1

Unplug the computer from the wall outlet or power strip. Remove the screws on the back of the case that secure the side panel. Slide the side panel off and then locate the round CMOS battery that is attached to the motherboard.

      2

Examine the battery to see how it is attached to the motherboard. Pull on the latch to release the battery and then remove it from the motherboard.

      3

Wait about 20 to 30 minutes for the electricity in the capacitors on the motherboard to discharge or dissipate.

      4

Set the CMOS battery back in the motherboard. Set the side panel back in place and the plug the power cord back in.

      5

Restart the computer and press the "F2" key to access the BIOS

You can erase the BIOS password by just removing the primary battery as well as the CMOS battery. The logic is, if there is power to the CMOS chip, then it can't remember the settings.

Did you remove the CMOS battery as well? Its a small CR2032 battery.

  • Anonymous Nov 09, 2010

    Looks like a disk.

  • Anonymous Nov 09, 2010

Usually, not more than a minute. It looks like we have too look at other options. I forgot to ask you a question. By BIOS password, do you mean the password required to enter setup or a system password?

use this tool

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.

or flash the bios from the laptop manufactor sites bios update.
or failing that - open the laptop up. take out the on board battery or search on line for where the jumpers are situated on the motherboard and reset them.

No easy solution im afraid.

SOURCE: I forgote bios password, IN MY ASUS EEE PC4G

I'm doing this from memory because I don't have an Asus handy. Reboot the machine press F11 to get into BIOS before the password screen comes up. You may have to try this several times. I've never tried this but I read on the Asus site that if you press CRTL-ALT Del while the unit is booting, that will put it into Administrator mode. Leave the password it asks for blank.

Good Luck
