Just connect the terminals, and wait till the alarm stops(30secs)then UNLOCK/HOLD KEY OVER 30 secs, windows go down.then lock/hold key over, windows go up.then press remote unlock button for 30 secs, you have just reset the alarm system/central locking/window comfort facility.....has to be done EVERY time you disconnect battery........

VW golf battery replacement - horn/alarm going off when reconnecting.

I suggest you try inserting the ignition key and turning the key to the fully on position before connecting the new battery. Ensure the door is left open.

If the alarm still sounds then starting the engine or attempting to start it might cancel the alarm.
Reading the vehicle handbook could provide more information.

94 VW Golf horn stays on with fuse pulled, I just got this car and tried to install a new battery when I connect it the horn sounds.I checked the fuse panel and pulled # 13 that was for the horn and it...

What your hearing is the factory alarm not the horn. Connect the battery when the alarm sounds go to the drivers door lock with the key and lock and unlock the door until the alarm goes off . Then reinstall the fuse for the horn.,

How do you reset the timing on a 1998 VW Jetta?

a car of that year should have an ecu controlling fuel air mix etc. this normally controls the timing.
To reset the ecu on my '95 VW Golf disconnect the battery (negative / black terminal) for 15-30 minutes depending on who you ask. So I do 30 minutes.
If it has central locking make sure you don't leave the keys in the car when reconnect it. swich on the ignition without starting the engine so the dash lights up with the oil light etc. for 30 seconds then off for 10 seconds. then start your car. It will relearn so it will run a bit rough for a while but should settle down. take it for a spin on different types of road ie. slow and fast.

1997 VW Golf...airbag light on...fault codes read by dealer reported faulty clock spring. New clock spring installed. Light now goes out for 5 seconds but then comes back on. Don't have a scanner to read...

Did you have the code cleared after you installed the new part because the ECM cannot clear itself, even though you installed a new part and the code is still in the system? You need to have the code erased with a OBD II scanner.

I need to deactivate the alarm on my 52 scenic

the only alarm that "sounds" when installing a new battery is an aftermarket alarm and the only way to resolve it will be if you have the remotes for the vehicle

search under the dash for a little black box
it should look like is was installed with zip ties

simply unplug it and your good to go

Instaling auto gauge TACHOMETER 3-3/4 INCH in a vw mk1 as per installation instructions but is not working

Check to make sure you are connected to the proper terminals, and that the wiring has no faults from tach to the terminals.

Fuse pannle is inside under drivers side dash on my 95 vw golf

Could be the problem. That piece is a relay, although I dont know which one. At one time it had a plastic cover on it. If you unplug it, it probably has 4 or 5 terminals labeled 84, 85, 86, 86a, 87.
