Describe your samsung syncmaster 204bw Problem: I turn the monitor on, the power button turns blue, the screen remains dark, the image on my Powerbook G4 appears flashes on the screen before it goes black again and the power button is not longer lit it. Then it powers on again and the process repeats. I have unplugged all cords and plugged them back in - the problem remains. Thank you!

Check the power supply DC filter cpas first.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Samsung Syncmaster 204bw has a red screen

A red or pink tint to the screen indicates that the back light bulbs are failing and are about to burn out. Its time to look for a new monitor.

My Samsung SyncMaster 740N occasionally turns itself off. Timing varies and the condition varies. Usually the screen just goes black - from seconds to hours after it is turned on - the blue LED remains...

This could be because of the 'eco' friendliness of the monitor. Basically a lot of monitors are designed to turn off into a low power state when not in use so to preserve power and life of the monitor. I would return the monitor as the sensors that control this seem to be broken in your monitor.

My monitor plugs in blue power button blinks why ?

There is probably a failure of part of the power supply pcb. If the light blinks and the screen is totally dark, this is the likely cause. The usual culprit is decective capacitors on the pcb. See other posts on this subject here. This failure may be intermittant; in other words, it may not always occur.

Problem with syncmaster 204bw

Hi there.
unfortunately this is not a driver issue. if possible, test this screen on a different PC/Laptop.
it sounds like a problem with the screen itself - meaning you will have to take it to a service centre, or if its under warrantee - take it to the shop you baught it from.
*** NB note: samsun screens normally carry a guarantee of AT LEAST 3 years, and not only 1 Year.
