Have a Mustek 1200ed flatscanner. After installing the driver, the way i usual do. now once i restart and plug in the cable and power cord, it keep on restarting my windows itself for some reason and the only way to get the system working is to uninstall through safe mode. i even remove all the mustek from the regedit and reinstall and the problem reoccur again and again.

you can download your scanner driver from the internet, search at google or yahoo with your brand and model to search

There is no official driver for mustek 1200 for vista, due to it's age, but you can try installing the one intended for XP from: http://www.mustek.com.tw/Download/driv_scanr/europe/1200ed.html .

As far as I know, you don't need special drivers for HP Deskjet printers in vista, due to system having integrated drivers. But in case that the system doesn't recognise the device you can try with xp drivers (since there are none officially for vista) from: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=emea_africa&lang=en&softwareitem=dj-14939-2&os=228&product=375447&

Install disks for hardware get stale really fast.  You download a current driver for WinXP from http://www.mustek.com.tw/Download/driv_scanr/english/1200ed.html
  If you want to install on Linux, I think there might be a couple of compatible drivers for that too.  Otherwise it's not too bizarre, things all riff off the same TWAIN-II spec so you don't have a lot of rewrite to do.

  If you work in a Mac environment, there might be some SilverFast drivers for that family of scanner.  They cost money and are worth it (if you use the scanner.)

Go to mustek.com and search for the TWAIN drivers by model number.

If that doesn't work, you might be able to salvage the CD by getting a resurfacing machine.
