This knife is ****. To load... you have to push the slide all the way forward. Make sure the switch is set to unlock. PINCH THE BLADE WITH YOUR FINGERS AND WIGGLE IT INTO PLACE. Then you have to use every ounce of thumb power to relock the switch.

Once you are done, the blade will still come out in 9.9 / 10 times you cut something.

The suggestions and instructions chrisvarns provided worked great. I got my blade back in, but it doen't change the fact that this utility knife is a dismal disappointment and a poor example of Stanly tools. I suggest readers stick to the old faithful utility knives we have all bought, lost or wore out for years. Stanley needs to go back to the "Keep It Simple Stupid" drawing board on this one.

I unscrewed Stanley 10-379 Interlock retractable knife and now I don't know how to put back the gizmo that fell out or the three blades that came with it.

Google: how to change blade in Stanley 10-379 utility knife. Stanley website shows how knife & blade look on the outside. Put it together so it looks like that. Sorry, but ain't don't know how to send the picture to you.

How do you load a new blade?

At the back end of the knive (the curved end) press the black piece through the yellow rounded part and the yellow front and the black back will part, now slide the yellow part back to reviel the blade folder. Fit new blade then refit the yellow part on top of the black part and slide the yellow part foward to lock it back in.

Just purchased a Stanley FatMax 10-778 retractable knife. Cannot figure out how to load the blade for use.

1. Make sure the side lock is unlocked.
2. Push the thumb tab all the way to the front of the blade handle.
3. Insert the blade in the opening, you may notice two notches on the top side of the blade.
4. Press the small blade release button as you slide the blade into the knife. You may have to jiggle up and down to get the two notches on the blade fully into the handle.

If properly inserted, the exposed area of the blade should look very close to an equilateral triangle.

make sure both notches of the blade are inside the handle. They notch into the thumb lever.

good luck

WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE STANLEY SWIVEL LOCK UTILITY KNIFE AND REMOVE DULL BLADE. NOW i CAN'T GET THE NEW BLADE IN AND CLOSE THE KNIFE PROPERLY, WHAT'S THE TRICK?

If you use the wrong brand of blades, they won't let the knife shut all the way. The notch is cut slightly differently. The same is true for the Kobalt knife I just bought at Lowes. Get the Stanley blades that are right next to the knives - they are the only ones that work.

Sorry.

If you bought the Stanley blades, then I don't know what the problem is. Sorry for that too.

Stanley knife blades fell down drum and under

Probably the best thing to do in this situation is to empty the washer out, then unplug it and turn the water off at the spigot.
Then invert the washer, leaning it back, so as to reach the blades under the drum.
