Same problem. No dial tone. Phone rings when you call it. People can hear you talking, but you can't hear anything ont he GE phone. Even without dial tone you can call out and people can hear you, but again you can hear nothing. All 4 phones i have linked operate the same way now. It's as if the base is not transmitting any of the incoming voice signals to the headsets. About ready to junk the whole system at this point.

Same here, although I can use speakerphone between the handsets (like an intercom), so the handsets seem to work fine.Same here, although I can use speakerphone between the handsets (like an intercom), so the handsets seem to work fine.

The phone is not detecting dial tone on the line. Are you able to hear a dial tone? If not - disconnect the cable at the phone and plug into a different phone. If it works, then the problem is with the Panasonic phone - if it doesn't work - the problem is with the cable, jack, wiring, etc.
Usually broken dial tone means the line has call-forward set. You get broken tone for 3 or 4 seconds, then goes back to normal. Are you receiving incoming calls normally? It's common to set or cancel 'cause the code might kinda match a number you use. And it may be forwarded to nowhere, example, you dial 729-1111, but press 72#-1111. You might be forwarded to 1111, the code being 72#. The 1111 goes nowhere, someone calls you, calls gets forwarded, then they get a message"that number does not exist". If that's the code for your area, then 73# might be the cancel code. Check the front of the original phone book, or Google codes for your service provider.
The waiting light is a MESSAGE light. Press MESSAGE and look at the display. It tells you where the message came from and the 3rd soft key will let you CLEAR the message.
Which make and model of phone is it?
Are you pressing the green call button beforew you try to enter the number you are calling?
You should enter the number first, then press 'green'
You wont hear a dial-tone like a landline phone
Panasonic KX-TG1050N Cordless Phone. Base handset (No. 1, KX-TGA100N) does not work, no keypad response or dial tone. Green indicator message light ON (should only work with the TG1000N base unit) all the time till battery runs down. Display shows message ?C533?. Can still send and receive calls on extension phones 2 and 3.
