HP slimline home computer's keyboard

The keyboard doesn't respond. I checked the connections and all is good - even cleaned them. Any suggestions?

Either the keyboard is bad or the port that the keyboard plugs into is bad. Try either another keyboard or your keyboard on another computer to narrow it down. If it is your computer and the keyboard is a ps/2 keyboard, then you can just replace it with a USB one.

Desktop keyboard keeps dying

Have you connected any other USB devices that could be draining power? Try to disconnect everything but your mouse and keyboard and see if the problem comes back, if this rectifies the issue get a powered USB hub to connect the rest of your devices.
Also check that the USB bandwidth and power level limits are not being exceeded, I have attached a picture

I cant get the keyboard the respond to the hub, the mouse works fine but not athing from the keyboard. I have even put different batteries in.

I have this problem to sometimes. Hold the keyboard connect button with the hub connect button at the same time. If this doesn't work then restart the computer. If this does not work reinstall the software.

Cleaned my keyboard and now the usb ports function but the keys have no response . Is this repairable or do I need to purchase a new keyboard ?

Was the keyboard working before you cleaned it? Did you removed the keyboard connector, might just be loose connection. Check the connection again and see if it works. Keyboards faults normally starts with one or few keys not responding properly, and if the entire keyboard doesn't seem to respond then it's most likely faulty.

If this doesn't fix then you need to buy yourself a new keyboard.

hope this helps.

It is possible that the bios is set to not support legacy usb devices. if this is the case you may have to get a ps2 style keyboard to go in and check it. Otherwise your keyboard could be bad. check it on another computer.
Or your USB drivers could be no good or faulty. reinstall motherboard drivers from the manufacturer.

Hp slimline computer cannot bring up keyboard and monitor

Buggy Motherboard... could be the BIOS could use an upgrade, Bad Battery on MB, or MB could just be bad. Data on you drive is good and recoverable. New PC ? Buy.com a Referb Box is a good choice if you are on a budget. A Turion Processor is not worth the expense to fix in my opinion. If you can do it youself, for fun, replace Motherboard, HD and CPU and re-use the rest. Buying a new one, even a real cheep one is a less frustrating solution.

Start up Probelms HP Pavilion Slimline

Unplug the AC power, remove the battery, wait a full minute and then reinstall AC and battery. See, if you now power up. Most power up problems are related to AC power, DC input jack, motherboard, memory or processor. A lot depends on your comfort level and expertise in how far you should go in self diagnosis and repair. Good Luck.
