I was watching tv then heard a loud crashing or smashing sound, then the tv went black. Now there is no picture and the lamp light on the front of the tv keep blinking.

the lamp exploded it happens u need to replace the lamp ensure its the exact type, the lamp is the light source and without light the dmd cannot sync colours nor pix

DLP type sets regardless of brand all have some things in common--use a lamp, a Ballast, etc.

If sound you need to see if the lamp is coming on when set is turned on--usually in these type sets if no brightness one or more lights on the front of the set will be blinking---no model number is indicated with this question..

Sound of exploding capacitors.... The Blinking LED is the fault code.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem.Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together.When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixelation ,black and white picture,even vertical lines.You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

Dose the lamp light indicator in front panel flashes?Than lamp must change.

3 times blink shows lamp cover is removed or not installed properly on TV.
Please take out lamp inside TV and check, seems its broken as you heard loud pop.

If there is no picture but sound is audible then replacing the projection lamp will do otherwise, the TV requires to be diagnosed for any other hardware damages.

sounds like the lamp has shattered. check the lamp

Lamp life is only a few thousand hours. Hopefully its only the lamp that made to noise. Don't turn on again until lamp is replaced.
