Same problem, but only the front right channel is not working. If i power the unit off and on a few times it will work. Or if i turn the volume up it will start to work.

Quite often, when i switch on the receiver, i hear the 2 clicks but then it doesn't output any sound. Clicking off / on random number of times solves the problem - don't know whether this is coincidence or not but it does happen when the weather outside is rainy / gloomy :-)

There should be 3 clicking sounds coming from the amp. You amp miss the last clicking sound coming from the speakers ,spk, output terminals. There should be 3 relays on the spk output board. Their 12 contact points may have a layer of black colour oxide. Remove the oxide can fix the problem, perhaps.
1. Unplug the amp.
2. Open the cover
3. At the spk terminal, there is a horizontal board.
4. Look for the 3 relays and take them out.
5. Open the relays and remove the oxide layer by a sandpaper.
6. You need an iron solder, a desoldering pump and solder.
7. If does not help, check for the 24V for the 5 relays. 2 is for B+ and B-.

SOURCE: Onkyo receiver problems

All speakers and lines OK?  Sorry for basic approach!!  Protection is supposed to work when speaker outputs are loaded under recommended Z. speaker Z is a setting too ... along with several other paramenters.  Also, re the "last return" ...  Maybe the back surround speakers were turned off in settings?  Again, apologies if you've tried all this basic stuff.  I've just bought one of these amps and have probs with the FM tuner not tuning anything.  Mmmm. Back to the shop??   Cheers, Chris

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR 606 KEEPS CLICKING INSTEAD OF TURNING ON WHEN POWERED

Here are your options:

1. An electrical problem, where your receiver has a grounding problem.
2. Your speaker wire connections are actually touching each other and that's why your receiver is not turning on.

Intermittent audio operation. Sounds like the relay is dropping out of contact.

Hi Gerry, sounds like the unit would have to be serviced, you can located an authorized service center at the following link, http://www.onkyousa.com/Support/servicecenterLocator.php?source=globalnav. If you would like to see if your unit qualifies please email me at [email protected], Thanks, JT

sometimes with cable, satellite, or any dvr, the digital signal actually is intermittent and there is little we can do about it but add an analog audio connection for each device as a backup. per se, and put the receiver in auto input mode. the receiver will utilize the analog signal to fill in where the digital signal fails

All remotes controlling my Onkyo TX-SR304 stopped working

try putting the remote an inch away from the IR receiver on the unit and see if it works then, if so then you definitely know its broken. This can and does happen. From what you have posted it sounds like no remote is working on the receiver, the ir receiver can break. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thank you,

Onkyo TX-DS575 - intermittent audio

You have a problem that was inherent with all Onkyo receivers from this period. You need to contact Onkyo because the microprocessor needs to be replaced. Last I checked, its about $80 from onkyo.

This is NOT an isolated incident as darn near every Onkyo receiver model had this problem.

Good luck...

Onkyo TX-SR502 AV receiver

this could be the pre amp transistor or the power amp that needs replacing
the pre amp transistor is cheap but the power amp is not
if you did not crank it , then it is probably just the transistor that needs replacing

Rear left channel not working on Onkyo NR801

Sounds as if it's time for a shop visit, unless you want to try this yourself. The panel connection on the rear of the receiver, or the protection relay have apparently come loose from the circuit board. It happens sometimes when stress causes the cabling to pull on the back of the unit..accordianman
