Unit freezing up and shutting off

I have Maytag unit NMPEB08F2A. I works fine for about an hour or so and then it freezes up and just shuts off. Then the moisture that froze melts and leaks through the floor. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks Illeagle. I assume you're referring to the factory overcharging the freon. If this is the case you thinks it's possible I can find a way to bleed off some of the freon?

It sounds like it's low on refrigerant, dirty filter or evaporator, also may be problem with the blower not running at proper speed.

Ordinarily air conditioners do this when they are too big,(BTU wise), for the area being cooled. They will shut off to prevent system damage. There has to be enough warm air drawing back to the unit to keep the coils from freezing up. A more rare scenario would be an overcharge from the factory and manifest itself immediately.

Thank you,
Dave E. (Illeagle)

I have an older Goodman mini-split A/C unit, Model# MSG18HRN1W. On colder nights, at or just before freezing, in heat mode, the unit shuts itself of, and all 4 lights blink repeatedly.

It is meant to shut off when it gets so cold that the unit cannot make warm air from outside air that is too cold. When it reaches that situation, it should be switching the heating effort to the built in resistance heating. In other words, it gives up and directs that many KW of electricity go straight into heater coils, like and electrical dryer has. It is very expensive to heat this way. Most whole house heat pumps can't handle cold air. The newer mini split ductless heat pumps lower can work with outside air temperature below freezing depending on the manufacturer.

Model Number: UACC-036JAS The unit works fine. The problem is it doesn't shut down after the specified temperature has been reached. The furnace blower shuts down, but the ac unit keeps on running....

Hello, usually a stuck contactor coil will cause this on the outside unit. When the outdoor unit runs continously and the indoor blower does not run no heat is being absoebed by the evaporator coil and thus the line freezes. Replaceing the contactor will fix the problem.

Tried webupdater and the PC does not find the unit. Tried another Garmin and it worked. Bad device keeps shutting off or freezes at the agree button and then shuts itself off.

Have you fully charged the unit for a couple of hours with the car charger? If you charged it with the USB cable it will take 3 to 4 hours to fully charge...

Once charged go to www.MyGarmin.com and do a firmware update

Own 2005 27.5' Wildwood Trailer with a Dometic a/c ducted unit. Last few times out it freezes up initially first few times (pocked circuit breaker once then I turned it off after few minutes second time)....

Don't block off any ceiling ducts and see what happens. If you've closed off any forced air ducts, the unit will freeze up, if too many are closed off. Also, if you shut unit off (compressor) give it 5 or 10 minutes before you turn it back on.

Unit shut down & info light is flashing

Look for a pan that collects water or a door switch, the pan (if full willshut down the Unit ) or you didn't replace the panel properly. The first thing to check would be the POWER , Breaker ?.

Goodman CAPF4860C6AA not cooling properly

It sounds like it needs to be charged. What you need to do is shut the system down for 24 hours in order to let the unit thaw. Then if you are not EPA certified, you need to have a repair tech come out and charge your system. That should be it unless you have a leak in the lines.
