How hard is to replace the blower motor on a gas dryer?
On this dryer the blower motor and drive motor are seperate motors. If the blower motor is not running there will be no activation of the gas ignitor circuit. Probably it is the blower motor but could be in the electronics module.
Okay, I think we need to back up a bit here. I need to know, first, if the dryer ignites. This is a GAS dryer, correct? I need to know if the igniter is glowing, and if you can hear the gas start flowing when you have ignition. If not, this could be a simple igniter or gas coil problem. If there is ignition and the drum is turning, do you have air flow coming out of the dryer vent exhaust? If there is air flow, you cannot possibly have a blower wheel problem. We need to rule out some possibilities before we start disassembling the dryer. I'm a bit miffed as to why someone would tell you that the motor was the problem. Since I was not there, I need to know as many symptoms that you can provide, so I can give you with a correct assessment.
If the igniter does not function, you will not get any gas flow. That may be why you aren't hearing any gas flow. In order for gas flow and ignition to occur, the igniter must reach a certain current potential before the gas safety valve will open. My guess is that you have an igniter problem. Can you please let me know if you can access the igniter and see if it is glowing? It will be located under the dryer drum.
PS Keep in mind, a glowing igniter STILL does not neccessarily mean it is good. A weak igniter will cause the same problem.
Replace your igniter if it is not glowing. In order for the dryer to ignite, the igniter should come on and begin to glow. It takes 30-90 seconds (depending on the age of the igniter) for the proper current potential to be reached. The gas valve opens, you hear gas flow and "phooom!", you have ignition. I tried looking up the pat using the model number you have this question posted under, but found nothing. Double check your model and number again, please. It will be located around the door opening, or on the back of the control panel.
I found your model number listed at repairclinic.com. It lists a thermistor, but I do not have a wiring diagram to look at. I looked for a tech sheet, but couldn't find one, either. A thermistor acts much like a fuse. I would also be suspicious of the control board too, but (again) I do not have a schematic to see how this dryer is configured. There should be a wiring diagram under the control panel, along with troubleshooting advice. I'm sorry I have led you on a lengthy trail here, but it is difficult to make assessments without actually seeing the appliance. Normally, a burner assembly also has safety coils too, but I don't think this would fail to provide power to the igniter, and I did not see this part listed anywhere. So...I'm afraid I'm leading you on a wild goose chase here. If you can refer to any technical documentation or provide me with a wiring diagram, I may be able to assist you further.

I don't know if you want any more feedback from me since I led you in circles the first time. From my experience with gas dryers, the flame is not continuous. The dryer will ignite and heat and periodically re-ignite as the dryer cools and reheats. 10 seconds seems like a short time interval, though. Have you tried lettting it run for a while to see if the dryer stays warm and cycles? The only other item that can cause ignition problems that I know of are the gas valve coils. Most gas dryers have two of them and they are often sold as a set. It is recommended that you replace both at the same time. I'm not telling you to buy more parts. Test the dryer, first. And, again I do apologize for all the troubles you've had. I hope something goes right for you.

i had a service tech come out and that is what he said.where is the thermal fuse located at in the dryer?
what it did before it finally quit is, it would work properly for
about 4-5 loads then no heat. on the display panel it would say "sensing" the dryer would keep running but no heat.
also, is this something i can myself..i.e.thermal fuse or blower motor?

the drum does turn....but no heat...so..would i be better off taking the back off the dryer and seeing if the wheel is broken? and yes saving some dollars is a must.
i do have the diagram printed out.

back again, it is a gas dryer...no air flow coming out of the vent...before when the dryer was working properly you could hear the igniter light up.....now nothing. drum does turn..but no air flow.

i can do that....there is a round cap on the side of the dryer on the bottom near the gas line...not sure if that will let me see if the ignitor is lite up...if not i will have to take the back off....a faulty igniter makes sense

ok i had to take off the front panel of the dryer to see the igniter along with taking of the top part with the controls. help me here as to how to check the igniter with the dryer apart..i dont want to blow up.
ok i ran the dryer with the front panel off and the igniter did not light up..i ran it for ten minutes...could anything else cause this not to work properly?
ok back again, i replaced the igniter and still nothing...the model number is DPGT750GC

after two weeks of finding time to replace the blower motor and the ignitor. i put most of it back together and did aa test run and nothing....the control panel does not light up..the light on the door does work .i check the circuit breaker. it has power.

ok i am back once again,,,i replaced the blower motor and the ignitor...the flame comes on for about ten seconds and then shuts off...is this common or is it suppose to stay on longer to get the inside of the dryer warm?
i ran the dryer for 30 minutes..the ignitor would light up and the gas would come on for 2 seconds(the flame)..it should stay longer ....i have the front panel off and actually see it come on..i think i am just spinning my wheels into something that is a money pit....
I'm not trying to second guess a tech that has already
diagnosed this problem, but it just doesn't make sense to me. If the blower motor
isn't working, the drum would not be rotating. The blower motor is also the main drive motor and it is used to drive the belt that spins the drum. The symptom that you would
get is a dryer that just would not start, but the heating circuit may still function. Basically, a hot dryer that doesn't rotate. Normally a problem associated
with a dryer that runs, but does not heat, is a heating circuit problem or the
blower fan has broken off the drive shaft. The blower motor lists for about $216 at searspartsdirect.com, while the blower wheel only lists for about $63. That's why I asked the question in order for you to make sure you aren't spending money on any unnecessary parts. You need to double check the symptoms see if the drum is actually turning. Refer to the website I mentioned and type in your complete model number. Look under the "Drum Motor and Blower" heading to see what I am talking about. The drive motor is item number 450. The blower wheel is item number 481. Let me know what you find.
Are you sure its the blower motor? A blown thermal fuse will cause the same symptoms.
