Hello. Everytime I plug in a destination that is preprogrammed in my favorites, my Garmin calculates the estimated arrival time hour away, althought the distance time is not more that 15 min. What is going on? Where can I send it to get it fixed? It was a Christmans present last year. Thanks, Beatrice

Take the GPS out of your van to an area with a clear view of the sky. Power the unit on. If the unit is working correctly, then it will acquire the satellites. You can then put the unit back in your van. You may have to reposition the unit to keep the satellite lock.

If the unit does not acquire satellites outside, then the unit is defective.

When you set a destination it will automatically set that display to destination time.

When was the last time you updated the GPS firmware?
Sounds like that is the problem.

When you have the screen showing up the route to your destination, if you touch the box down in the left hand corner showing the estimated arrival time the screen should switch to show your current speed, max speed, compass etc.........

thats normal- estimate is always higher the units go by speed limits and you shave time off trip units adjust accordingly

there is 2 things u can do... either try and reset the gps .. normally its by holding the power button down. or have u tried up dating your maps.. to do this u will have to jump on to the garmin web site and purchade from them... i know alot of ppl have trouble with garmin, i find that navman is the best :)

it may be trying to get you back on track or if when turning it on it trys to take you a previously sort location you may have set this as your home. make sure your actual home address is stored as your home address on the gps unit.

Sounds like a major software failure. . .

Hold a finger on the upper right corner of the screen while powering up the unit. This should do a master reset.
