I have replaced all black ink and have done the maintance for "Back of Paper is Smudged. Also did the Cleaning of rolers and other maitenance. But still get a 1/4 inch very heavy black ink on the backside of my paper. If we are printing many copies, some will have the thick line and some won'tl.

Thanks for your help

vertical black line on back of copies. sometimes 1/4 inch across and sometimes a thin line.

  • Anonymous Aug 13, 2008

I'm having the same problem as reported by two other users: about a 1/4" vertical line of black ink suddenly started appearing on back of pages. Usually gets lighter after 3 or more copies -- more like a smudge -- but still obvious. Contacted Canon's tech support and re-did the Maintenance steps in the manual for Bottom Clearining and Roller Cleaning; also cleaned the "protrusions," but to no avail. It's worked well otherwise, so 'm taking it in for service at a local Authorized Service Center; also, it's only 2 years old, been well taken care of, and I hate to trash it. Will post results of servicing when it's completed.

Same problem appeared with mine, but one month out of warranty. Black streak of varying intensity up to 6mmm wide on reverse of sheet being printed. Repeated reuse of the "Bottom Plate Cleaning" utility (60 to 70 times) did not solve the problem. Seems the problem lies with the pipe that carries waste ink from the purging dock to the middle of the machine where there is a large ink absorbent sponge. This pipe (or tube) blocks up and excess ink then builds up, eventually ending up on the back of the paper being printed. Canon support refuses to accept that this is a design fault, and claims that it is a "mechanical fault" , not their fault as the warranty has run out. There may be an 18-month warranty in parts of the US, but for the rest of us it is 12 months. Took the machine to the local Canon-authorised repair shop who charged EUR80 to unblock the pipe. There was no breakage or other mechanical fault. It will block up again, and there is nothing you can do about it - just grin and pay the repairman. It is amazing that a defective design such as this is allowed to be offered in the shops.

Replaced ink cartridge 56 and black print text is

Hello,

Remove the cartridge and use a damp paper towel, wipe the bottom of the cartridge several times. Each time you wipe you should be getting black streaks on the paper towel. After manually cleaning the cartridge nozzles you will need to use a new tower and wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge. When this is done reinstall it and run a cleaning and then an alignment procedure from the printer software. You should be printing good again.

I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

Why is there a black stripe on the backsid of the paper when I try and print?

you need to clean the bottom plate, heres how:
1 Make sure that the printer is on and then remove any paper from the Rear Tray.
2 Press the Open button to open the Paper Output Tray and extend the Output Tray Extension.
3 Fold a single sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in half widthwise, and then unfold the paper.
4 Load this and only this sheet of paper in the Rear Tray with the open side to the front.

(A) Load the paper after unfolding it.
5 Open the printer properties dialog box.

6 Click the Maintenance tab, and then Bottom Plate Cleaning.
7 Confirm the displayed message and click Execute.
The paper cleans the inside of the printer as it feeds through the printer.
Check the folded part of the ejected paper. If it is smudged with ink, perform Bottom Plate Cleaning again.
Important --
Even if the Cassette is selected as the paper source, paper will be fed from the Rear Tray.
Do not perform any other operation while the bottom plate is being cleaned.
If the problem is not resolved after performing cleaning twice, the protrusions inside the printer may be stained. Clean them according to instructions. See Cleaning the Protrusions Inside the Printer.

Printer not printing

find the maintance section of your print driver display ( far right of the display ) should see a maintance tab.
do a cleaning cycle or a deep cleaning cycle and see what happens. it should start printing.
if necessary make up a solid single color block on a windows word doc using the squares make them no line perimiters and do a black blue red and yellow about 1/2 inch tall and 7 inches wide
as a test pattern. the color that doesnt print is clogged
in the future try not to let the inks run completly dry before they are replaced.
if that doesn't help use isoprople alcohol 91proof on a cotton swab or clean cloth and let the print head soak in it for 5 minutes and try again.

Epson Stylus CX5000 blurry or smudged printing

epson uses pigmented ink and compatibles use dyes and thus if the paper is not of good quality then you can have this problem.

do the following

change the paper and try.

As there will be ink in the head and the ink feed tubes , print some 10 -15 copies of all color prints so that the original ink starts to get into the head and then the paper.

this should solve your problem

Also use your printer every 2 -3 days if you dont have any prints then give a noozle check and then switch off the printer. This will avoid the printer from doing a head clean very time you switch on the printer and also the ink will give you more output as there is less amount of head cleaning

bye
