Well recently, my pc's usb ports are working very fine.
suddenly, my co-workers here just told me that they just stop working.
all usb device are not detected to all usb ports.
i've looked every possiblities why this problem happened.
ive checked the bios setup and it's ok everything is enabled,
drivers are also properly installed.
i even tested it last time by going to regedt32 -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCURRENTCONTROLSETENUMUSB
i changed the permission into full access and
i deleted the ROOT_HUB and ROOT_HUB20 and restarted the pc...
when it boots up, those deleted values were automatically installed,
guess the system traced it out that they are missing and needed them to install again...
but the problem is that usb devices aren't yet working....
that means usb ports' drivers were installed and detected by any usb removable device are not? What seems to be the problem bro?
thanks in advance... hope you could help me out with this...
USB disk drive/ USB bluetooth/ anything with USB is not detected!
It is so frustrating...
First only Windows is volatile, and just when Windows starts to work-Hardware gives up on me!
Please help me as I am stranded, I use 2 OS (XP SP3 & Vista Ultimate), both the OS cannot detect my pen-drives or any USB devices- I touched the USB ports but no current passes through them.. when they were working before I use to occasionally get minor shocks.
I re-installed after formatting XP SP3 for testing if there was a driver issue, but all the 4 ports yet do not work!
My PC config is-
ASUS A8N-VM Motherboard
AMD 3200+ Athlon
2 GB DDR1 400Mhz RAM
512 MB XFX 8600GT PCIEx
PS/2 Mouse & Keyboard
2 internal HDD (200 GB each- 1 SATA+1IDE)
1 PCI TV-Tuner Card
On Board LAN connected to Modem
I guess it is a general config now a days- nothing unusual, then what could have gone wrong I wonder?
Please Reply as soon as possible.
All the USB ports were working before he installed SP3 and rebooted. After that only the mouse/keyboard ports worked. Same thing happened to me. No other changes were made, so something added/change by SP3 is the culprit.
Questions is...what did SP3 do to break USB and how to fix it?
Plug out your ps and ther is a jumper on your motherboard that say USB power 2 take it. Out leave the box for 15min then plug in power supply then replace jumper then u will be all set

The same problem as stated, my windows xp does not detect any usb devices.
Same problem - sp3 upgrade shut down all usb ports except two (mouse and keyboard are working). This is a known and notorious problem - Googling "windows xp sp3 usb ports stop working" produces a flood of reports. And no reasonable solution, given that sp3 is, according to MS, a "critical upgrade."
My pc's usb ports are working very fine with Windows XP home.
I upgrated to Windows WP XP Pro SP2. So all usb device are not detected to all usb ports.
In Bios -> Advanced > Chipset > USB is hidden .
My computer asus Z92T series, M/B version A6TC
after updating my computer to sp3 nothing will recognize in my usb ports
i tried disabling the highspeed usb and some devices work but not all of them
Dell Inspiron 5160 intel chipset Hyperthreaded 3.02Ghz....SP3 jacked up my USB ports and uninstalling SP3 didn't fix it....Thanks microsoft! Can't figure it out....It's not an ASUS issue, it's an SP3 issue...
Are the USB ports turned on in the BIOS?
