This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician. My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs. I had this exact same situation happen to my camera. so I tore it apart and found the problem. the power jack has a copper connecter on the bottom that gets pushed down and needs to be bent back up. So if you looking at the camera where you plug in the power adapter, get ba light and look at the very bottom and you will see a very little gold prong which a ground and has been flattened out from inserting the power adapter. You need to bend it back up so it can make contact with the adapter. I took off the right side cover and used a jewelers screw driver from the back side to push it back up. But all you realy need to do is bend a paper clip or have something bent and stick in there from the front and slightly pry it back up. Hope this works for you.
