The dishwasher is 6 years old. It is a Bosch SGV56A03GB/42. It does not fill with sufficient water and the programme does not finish. It shows one minute left. To stop it you have to turn the machine off and it then shows the programme selected cycle as approximately 32 minutes (which is incorrect), you then have to reset it to start it at the correct cycle time. It does not clean the pots.
If you manually fill the machine with water it will clean the pots, but the cycle stops at one minute to go and the machine does not turn off.
I have changed the water solonoid and this has not rectified solved this.

Re: the gritty residue Check your spray arms. My Bosch arms clog regularly with little things. I have to unscrew the arm and run water through. Then I must pull out the food particle - usually a seed or kernel. Very frustrating as I do scrap garbage off before running the cycle. Would I buy another Bosch? Nope!

I had the same problem and just today replaced the control board module. Purchased the control module online and installed in myself. Was not that difficult. undo the screws (torx screw driver needed) unhook the connections to the board and label all. Pull the board out and open, found burned connectors. Now works like a dream.

Sounds like the control module is out -- cost about $100 (I am on my third). I got a "lifetime" warranty when buying my second one. If you are handy, you can replace it yourself. You can call Bosch to confirm this (I did). It mounts inside the door. Mine is a BOSCH 5316.
The draining problem may mean a clogged drain hose -- you have to check it all the way back to either the main drain or the garbage disposal (if you have one). This may be what forced off the impeller wheel.
SOURCE: cycle time
yes its normal.bosch dishwashers use very little water and energy but,the cycles need to be longer to get the dishes clean. its perfectly OK.(ps use cascade powder if you can)
