Manual Thermostat replcaement with Programmable Digital unit.

I have a RUUD heatpump/AC unit with manual thermostat.
Inside unit is UBHC-17J11SHG, outside unit is UPMC-030JAZ, thermostat is T874R1434.
New thermostat is Honeywell Vision Pro 8000 series (TH8320U1008).

When I remove the faceplate on the existing thermostat, I see the following wires connected on the left side from top to bottom:
Yellow
White
bare wire
Lt. Blue
Red
Black (or Dk. green).
Connected the the mercury thermometer is white, blue and yellow on top.
Connected to the bottom is red and black (or Dk, green),

I need to know what wires go where on the Honeywell wiring block.

Thanks,
James Andrus

Hopefully there are markings on the old t-stat as to what terminal is what.
on the honeywell 8000 use the heat pump labeling and then the standard wiring would be
R- red
AUX-white
Y- yellow
B- O/B
C- black
G- green
There should not be a bare wire, it probably just has the insulation stripped back way too far.
You should probably open the furnace and compare the terminal label in the furnace to the wire color. normally yellow and blue pass through the furnace and are wire nutted to wires going to the outdoor unit. In the furnace the white wire will connect to the w or w1 terminal. also, you will need to set the Honeywell stat to have the following parameters.
170-7
190-1
200-0
other parameters that I did not specify, you may read the manual and make your own decision but I recommend factory settings for the other parameters

How do I get my AC running again? Ruud UBHC AC unit isn't running. Started yesterday or today.

Sounds like there is no control voltage. Either the transformer to reduce the voltage from 110 volts to 24 volts is not producing the 24 volts needed for control voltage, or most furnaces have a small 3 or 5 amp fuse mounted on the main control circuit board that may be blown. Other "outside circumstances" may involve a break in the thermostat wire...more than likely the red wire if you are getting nothing to work. I have seen evidence of "critters" that have chewed through the low voltage thermostat wiring that would keep the thermostat from controlling anything. To check this, go to the furnace and jumper the red & green wire to get the fan running just to isolate if it is a thermostat wiring severred. Good Luck.

AC thermostat not working

Hello, if the unit is equipped with a condensate safety switch it will kill power to the thermostat if the drain line is backed up. You would need to use a wet/ dry vac to clean out the line. The line is typically a 3/4 inch white pvc pipe. If the unit does not have a safety switch then either a blown fuse, burned out transformer are the problem.

Ruud UBHC AC System - Provides no Aux Heat

Tried this on my unit today, and observed the same results, but got Aux Heat (with A setting), if the H (blue wire) connected to B terminal, as per instructions for my 6036 Ritetemp. However, in this case, when the set temp is reached, I hear the click, but HVAC still blows aux heat indefinitely.

I also have RUUD UBEA 17J10..., and replaced my old honeywell with 6036, and can't get heat pump working. Both of my units are 14 years old, so I'm thinking to replace them soon.

Want to replace manual thermostat with programmable.

you can use a 5 wire heat pump thermostat.

Must be heatpump thermostat
red is 24 volt power
white is aux/emergency heat these usually will need to be jumped together
Green is fan
yellow is compressor contactor
blue is reversing valve
you just don't have a common so some thermostats will not work.
get one with batteries

Where can I find stuff about my A.C.?

First, complain to the owner of the service outfit you hired to repair the system.
Second, give them a chance to make it right.
Third, if they refuse, ask who their competition is and contact them for service.
Lastly, contact the Better Business Bureau in your area.
