In order for the wireless computer to connect to the router wirelessly, the router and the computer's wireless settings should be the same. Before trying to connect your wireless adapter to a Linksys wireless router, please know the following: SSID or Network Name, Wireless Security and/or Network Key.

Connecting to Wireless Networks Using XP's Wireless Zero Configuration

To connect to the wireless network using Windows Vista, click here.

Follow these steps to connect to your wireless network using XP's Wireless Zero Configuration.

Step 1: Right-click the Wireless Network Connection icon at the bottom-right of the screen and select View Available Wireless Networks.

NOTE: If Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) is disabled or other wireless network monitor is running, the Wireless Network Connection will not appear at the bottom-right corner. To enable WZC on the computer, contact Microsoft or consult the computer manufacturer.

Step 2:

Select your wireless network

SOURCE: connecting wireless router to laptop computer

Try changing the channel on the router. It would be better to isolate the problem first by trying to connect to other wireless networks on your laptop or having someone's laptop connect to your home wireless network.

SOURCE: my belkin enhanced wireless router 150 , as well

Well, can you imagine a cable company lying? I can. However, it is also possible that when you moved, you started using a wire that is not in as good shape as it might be.
Will any of these routers log?
What is it that makes you think that your connection is dropping?
If you had a Linux box, you could make some monitoring tools, and you might consider making a bat file for windows that ping something on your cable company's network in a loop (traceroute to 8.8.8.8 and ping the first thing that is not on your net), and see if it drops packets when you get a drop.
Were you on the same cable company before you moved?
These things are hard to diagnose, even when someone who is knowledgable lives there. From afar, they are impossible to debug.
Say you are accessing something on the Playstation Network. From me to the playstation network is 15 hops and a reboot of any of those routers is going to cause a reset of anyone behind that router.
Now, if you can get access to a program called "mtr" either on Linux or on older than Vista you can simultaneously test many levels of connection between you and the other end. So you can run pings of many of the routers between your end and the end you are talking to - and if you lose a packet from a bunch of them at once, that is a failure. Typically there will be a point where in front of this router things worked and behind it everything failed. If that is one of your old school routers on your net then the cable company is telling you true and if it is past the cable company they are telling you true as well, but if it is on their net, then you have a complaint with them.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Vista to Vista wireless, Can't share printer

So your third laptop which runs Vista cannot connect to the Printer and Dell machine?
There are some reasons for that. First check whether you have access to the Dell machine (whether you can reach it) Open a command prompt and do a ping to verify the connectivity. Example. ping 192.168.1.2 (The ip address should be the one of your dell machine. You can find it by running ipconfig in a command prompt on Dell machine.)
1. If you cannot reach it you have to check the network utility (wifi or any other method you use). Make sure that it function properly. 2. ping the router using router's ip address. If ping works you can reach up to their. So from there you can check the Lynksys management console to know why it blocks the machine entering the wlan. May be a addressing issue or authentication issue. If you cannot reach it however it might have problems with the connection as well. Make sure that you allow connections to the wlan on Toshiba Vista laptop if you use a antivirus solution with a firewall or any other firewall.
If you can reach the machine (or even if you cannot reach) you must check whether you have access to the workgroup (you have to join if you are not in the workgroup which you use) and you must enable file and print sharing. If you run the windows firewall that would block you in as well. Its better if you can check whether the print spooling service runs. Start -> Run Type in services.msc Hit enter. Check and enable the service.
If you can reach the Dell using a ping: Check whether the dell machine can access the laptop. Use my network places. It will ask you for the credentials. Provide them. If any error occurred try detecting the network. Add the machine properly to the workgroup. Enable access to the machines via file and print sharing in windows firewall. (go to the firewall go to Exceptions tab and select the File and Print sharing)
Check this Microsoft resource as well.
