I have an MR-4 that has the same problem. The power comes on but the display just says "tel". I've done a hard reset and the same thing happens. Any suggestions?

Same problem..."tel" appears and no sound. Will accept a CD, but not play.

I have this model on our spa. I just installed but the provider did not give to me an owner's manual. How do you complete the 'hard reset' mentioned previously? I have NO POWER showing at all.

JBL Marine MR-15B radio/cd player. When I press any button unit changes from mono to stereo and that is all it will do?

Question edited for clarity, proper 'make model (what it is)'.

I can't find a manual, but they have a common theme. Remove the faceplate and press the Reset Button, then clean the contacts both sides with electrical switch cleaner or Isopropyl Alcohol.

My JBL Marine Hot tub Sterio quit working suddenly?

JBL is at best a low quality marine grade brand of stereo. It is now garbage. I have worked on hot tub stereos for many years, PolyPlannar is the only one that is any good. If it was bought 30 days ago, where's your warranty?

Won't read the CD's now

have you ever cleaned the lazer lens? goto any CD store and pick up a CD cleaner CD, it is a CD that you place a drop of cleaner on the brushes on the bottom of place it in the CD player and let it play, it will clean the lens that reads the cd, you might have to run it a few times if you have never done this before. that should fix the problem. the CD cleaners are not that expansive, can find them under $20...... hope this helps you..........

JBL MR-4 CD doesn't eject

The unit probably doesn't think there is a CD inside. Possible doing a soft reset will fix this. Do so by powering the unit and putting a ball point or other pointed object into the reset button opening either on the face of the radio or behind the face. A hard reset can be done by disconnecting constant power from the unit for approximately 15 seconds.
If either of these methods fail, then your unit has a bad CD mechanism or more than 1 CD inside the player. In that case, the unit will have to be serviced by an electronics repair or a local stereo shop. This is a Marine radio, and if installed on a boat, this problem is not too uncommon. Moist air can cause damage to the unit as well as the bouncing on the water that boats do.
