Won't Charge- Is there anything I can do?

Basically, my LG Env won't charge.
The little peice that cover's the place were you plug the cable into the phone is broken off, but does that effect it?
It charged earlier, but the cable had to be in some weird angle, and now it's not charging at all. : (

Am I going to have to replace my phone, get my phone fixed, or buy a new charger for it?
Help, Please! : (

My enV won't charge. I put the charger into the phone and nothing happens, the charger is really loose and keeps falling out of the phone.

Have the same problem, charger port is broke, had phone for about 8 months.I took it back to Verizon and they mailed me a new one, 2-3 day delivery. I have had new(refurbished) one for 2 months and this one broke already!

well mine is actullay a samsung telus and i put

the charger in working fine and nothin happend so tonight i am going to switch th battery with one that is charged

  • Anonymous Sep 26, 2008

Yes! My phone does the same thing. It's gotten so bad that I need to yank it at such a hard angle (just so that it could charge) that it emits this high-pitched sound. That can't possibly be good for it either. So I am either damaging the phone just so I can talk on it, or have it completely dead and useless. Shame, because I really prefer this phone over the LG Chocolate I replaced with this.

I have had this happen to me twice within two months of two different phones. The Env2 model but different phones. Also the space doesn't work.

  • lstokley11 Feb 15, 2009

My phone (same type) randomly stopped charging one day during a week when I really needed it. I tried moving the charger around and found that it charged at a weird angle (i held the part of the charger that plugs into the phone and let the weight of the phone press down on that part). then my charger broke. what now?

  • xoariielbabi Feb 25, 2009

My verizon env will not charge , even from an angle .

  • fox13racer13 Mar 31, 2009

SAME FOR ME!! I HAD TO HOLD THE CHARGER AT AN ANGLE SO THE PHONE WOULD CHARGE THEN IT BROKE THE CHARGER AND I NEED MY PHONE BADLY!! how much are new batteries?!

  • Anonymous Apr 04, 2009

That happened to mine, just last night. I don't think it has anything to do with the charger, but its based upon the charging port. After a while, it just stops working. Therefore, I don't think buying a new charger will help. I would take it back to Verizon, but I can't get a new one no charge, because my contract is up in two months and my phone is out of warranty.

  • foxnewcomer Apr 15, 2009

i seriously thought i was the only 1 having to d weird stuff in order to charge my phone! i was so pissed with having to buy new chargers that i googled help and i came across this site, it seems as if every1 has the same xact problem! im pissed! i hope if n e 1 plans on purchasing this garbage phone they'll do the research first. i no better now

  • Anonymous Apr 19, 2009

My phone sucks and its two years old. you canget a loner phone if you go to verizon or get a free upgrade phone

  • Anonymous Apr 21, 2009

OK, the littel peace INSIDE the phone is broken, iv had 2 of these phone broken like this in 2 months. You have to take it to the store because eventually the "Wierd Angle" charging will change into no chrage at all because the peace inside will eventually break off.

Soz but just take it to the store.

Well i dont have any long term ansa but here is a short term one while you find a new charger.

Take the charger and dismantle the end that plugs into fone. you should have 2 wires a black & white or black & red. Leave the blobs of solder on the end of the wires as this helps. Leave the wall socket end of charger in tact.

Take your battery out of fone. As with a normal battery you will see a (+) and (-) sign on it. Attach the black or darkest wire to the negative (-) metal square on the battery and the white or lightest wire (maybe red) to the positive (+) metal square on the battery (after trial & error i found a clothes peg to be the best form of attaching it). Leave attached for 15 minutes and this will give you around an hours usage when you put the battery back in the fone. If you leave it overnight then it will be on all day.

Basically you are making the circuit without the fone which bypasses your pin problem. Any charger will work with any fone as the charging components are in the wall end. Just make sure the voltage is compatible ie, 5v fone charger replacing 5v charger etc. Although majority of chargers are 5v.

I know this works cos i did it to mine last nite as i needed to ansa my emails. Really simple but a little drastic like i said but if the pin connector is broke anyway wot you got to lose?? I am a girl so if i can do it anyone can lol!!

Only drawback is you cant use the fone while it is charging unless you have 2 batteries and you use one while the other charges which is what i am doing. In fact i might not buy a new charger lol, i dont need one now ive found this method works.

Happy charging!! Hope this helps! Gail-michelle

Cut off end of charger. Expose red and white wire. I attached alligator clips and then attached red to pos (+) and white to neg. (-) On the vx9900, of the four contacts, outside right is positive outside left is negative.

A good answer to this is simply to try a Samsung charger. My dad has an Android that he uses a Samsung charger for, and it works for my LG enV2 which will not charge unless plugged into it.

Same thing happened to my phone! I had to do all sorts of contortions to get the phone to charge, then eventually nothing worked. got a new phone and a new battery and a new charger. Luckily mine was under warranty, so didn't have to pay. POOR design as this recurring problem clearly shows.

I for got the phone lock code

Unfortunately, your going to have to call the Manufacturer or your phone to solve this issue. The Manufacturer of your phone would be Nokia, LG, Samsung, Motorola. They are the only ones who have access to this information. Some places may charge you to get the unlock code but most won’t so it’s really hit and miss. Nokia charges 14 dollars. In this case you need to contact LG. I’m sorry your having so much trouble with this! I hope I was able to help you today!

My enV won't hold a charge

You said the new battery worked but wont charge in the phone. You had water damage to the phone before getting the new battery correct?

First remove any Mini S/D card in the phone, power it off and remove the battery. ( only do this if its out of warranty and nothing else works. ) Your need to take the phone apart and get some alcohol wipes and wipe down the circuit board and connectors and anything that may have had water on it, if you see any crude, try to rub it off, there may be water and crude built up on contacts from the water damage that may be shorting the phone. Also check the battery contacts for greas or crud on the contacts. Once you have wiped down everything the alcohole should evaporate and take any moisture with it. Leave it out for a day dis assembled so it can air dry completely.

Put phone back together and hook up the charger and see if it charges. wait to put the memory card back in as in case you screwed anything up, you dont want it to take out your memory card with it.

I have performed this task with many of my friends cell phone that have gone through washing machines or got moisture in it because they take there phones into a steamy shower and moisture ends up shorting it out.

If nothing else works and you want to try it, go for it.

remember theres 6 screws in back and 4 around the mainscreen that are covered with triangular sticky covers, then use a thin knife or something to pry from one of the corners, one it gets started you just have to pop it apart with your fingers. Everything snaps back together easily.

Be carefull on the side with the screens, you dont wanto to pop apart the front screen from the mainscreen as its a pain to keep together when putting it back, also dont get any dust or fingerprints on the screen as they will drive you nuts if you put it all back together and theres a greasy fingerprint under the plastic that protects the screen.

Good luck

Charger port problem

or google BTC-UNI

iT'S little cheesy but hey for $10 and free shipping I can eat a lot of cheese.

Just plug your battery into this little clugy thing, plug the thing into the wall, wait until battery is charged and then put your battery back into your phone...presto...for this kind of money who cares if the VX9900 has a dead battery charge port.

I bought two, they were on sale for $7 each. It's ugly and takes a bit of patience but it works.

Charging

me and my dad have shared one lg charger for about a year and i havent had any problems, i think the only design problem with them is that the end of the charger, along with the cover for the charger in slot, are very very fragile. If you get a new charger just be really careful with it.
