Upgrading RAM Can i install a PC3200 512MB RAM on my D845GLVA board? Currently i have 128MB DDR266.

According to the specifications of you PC's motherboard. It supports DDR266 PC2100 type of RAM and only a maximum of 1gb RAM can be installed. If you have 512mb total of RAM right now, it is advisable to upgrade for a better performance of your PC.

DDR 266 is DDR, not DDR 2 . The 266 is the frequency value in Mhz.

Try having the memory refunded or resell it on Ebay, so that you do not lose your money.

The best memory for that motherboard is DDR SDRAM, the supported ram speed is 266 MHz • 200 MHz(maximum 2BG, 1BG in each slot)
Kingston or corsair memory running at 266MHz is my recommendation to you. Try not to buy used memory as it may not work!!

There are 2 possibilities here - either the slot is not working or the RAM itself.

First install the working 128MB RAM in both memory slots one after the other and ensure that both the slots are in good shape.

Next, install the other 128MB RAM in one slot and check if this is working good.

Your laptop can support a maximum memory of 512MB. If you looking for an upgrade, please call Dell Support. Even though it's little expensive and shipping takes a week, you can get a free after sales service and peace of mind. Moreover you get proper guidance from the experts.

Sounds like memory is the problem to me. Try original memory, if it works, make sure you are using the proper type and speed for this motherboard.

but your motherboard supports only 266 and 200 mhz RAMS

Some MOBO support different type of memory modules like ddr 400, 333,533 and other, if your computer is working fine with that PC400 it only means that your MOBO is compatible with it. Since you're planning to upgrade the memory just get another PC400 because the memory should be the same to work fine.

IF UR RAM IS SDRAM THEN U CANT UPGRADE TO DDR BUT IF ITS ON DDR RAM THE U SHOULD B ABLE 2 UP GRADE 2 1GIG OV DDR RAM RUNING AT 400MHZ
